Fortunately, Google has now released the Galaxy Nexus User’s Guide as a PDF, thus making it easier and quicker for users to get started with the new Android 4.0 ICS. However, the Galaxy Nexus help page indicates Coming Soon for the Owner’s guide which apparently is a different guide that emphasises on hardware functions of the device.

Galaxy Nexus User Manual is a detailed 107 page PDF with various topics, describing how to use your Android phone running Ice Cream Sandwich. The guide covers most of the basic tips and instructions to help you easily setup your phone, understand all the functions, settings and other new features in ICS. AirDroid is a fast, free and a must have app for Android users. It works flawlessly and is a lot easier to use than other similar wireless file sharing apps like Samba and SwiFTP. • View and delete Call Logs – Individual tabs for Incoming, Outgoing and Missed calls.

• Share Clipboard Text between desktop and phone – Type lengthy text comfortably using your desktop keyboard and share it from phone.

• Import, Export, Delete, Search, Play, and set Ringtones for phone calls, notifications and alarms.

Windows Phone official demo page is specially meant for non-Windows Phone devices, so that other mobile platform users can virtually have hands-on with the interface and basic functions of Windows Phone OS. The demo also works perfectly on Google Chrome browser, allowing everyone to test it without owning an actual Windows Phone (WP7) device. Alternatively, you can chose to install Windows Phone SDK that includes Windows Phone Emulator, in case you’re interested in having a detailed demo of the same.

Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard currently in Beta, support majority of Android devices. It can be easily downloaded and installed from the Android Market. It currently supports more than 20 languages and includes 5 dictionaries namely: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish. The keyboard has a cool interface, handy shortcuts, suggestion bar, User dictionary, etc. However, we noticed that the last row of keys on keyboard is only partly visible and the Speech to text function also doesn’t works as of now. Though, we’re quite sure these bugs would be fixed in future updates.

Included are several ICS keyboard settings that you can customize as per your needs.

RockPlayer for Android is a great and efficient media player, that takes advantage of device hardware decoder and FFmpeg plugin, to support almost every file format and most codecs. The app can smoothly play media downloaded from the web, such as videos and movies – supports .AVI, .FLV, .MP4 and .MKV formats. The playback quality is pretty good, has options to fast forward and view file information in a click. It even loads the subtitle (.srt) file automatically and lets you customize the size and color of subtitle text. To use it, just put the video on your sdcard and power up RockPlayer. Then just navigate to the media folder on external storage and play the desired file.

It has 2 decoding modes – Hardware decoding mode and Software decoding mode. Cons: Some low end Android devices with slow processor might not be able to handle big size and officially unsupported videos via Hardware mode, so try using the software mode (if Hardware doesn’t works). You might also see the video lagging behind the audio, thus not syncing properly because of deficient hardware. The lite version of RockPlayer is free without any ads but a distracting R appears over the video.

Specs Comparison between GALAXY NEXUS and Galaxy S II (i9100)

If Samsung Galaxy S2 gets the Android 4.0 update then I don’t think current SGS2 users would find the need to upgrade to Google Nexus. That’s my view, share yours below.
