Internet users in India using Airtel Broadband and Reliance Broadband service must have recently noticed that both these ISP’s have blocked a majority of popular torrent sites in India since last night (May, 16th). Besides the torrent sites and illegal file sharing services, these leading internet service providers have also blocked access to sites such as xmarks.com, pastebin.com which is a sort of surprise as these services don’t serve any copyrighted or infringing content. According to Medianama, the reason behind this severe block is a ‘court ban’, following a John Doe order taken by Copyright Labs, Chennai, to prevent piracy of Tamil Films – Dhammu (Tamil) and 3 (Telugu).

Upon visiting any of these below listed websites on Airtel or Reliance Internet, you will see the following message “Access to this site has been blocked as per Court Orders”. On the contrary, BSNL and MTNL users are reporting that they’re able to access all the blocked sites easily. We’re not sure but this ban seems region specific as some users are able to access the banned sites in India on the above mentioned private ISP’s.

It’s certain that hundreds of thousands of people all over India are trying to open these torrent sites and other sites, which is impossible. However, there are hacks to access such restricted sites using a proxy or VPN, though that’s not suitable for everyone. Fortunately, we’ve succeeded in accessing these sites using a simple and easiest trick!

How to Access Blocked sites on Airtel/Reliance -

By implementing https (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) in place of the usual http, you can access most of the popular torrent sites like thepiratebay, isohunt, torrentz, kickasstorrrent and clean site like Xmarks. We’ve tried this trick on Airtel ISP and it’s working perfectly as on May 17th, 1:15 PM (IST). Links below:

Instagram, the popular photo sharing service offers a remarkable functionality and is widely popular among iOS and Android users. Instagram was recently acquired by Facebook leaving the end users skeptic about its future, most of whom are now looking for ways to backup their precious and beautiful photos offline on their computer. Instaport is one free and smart web service that provides a simple way to export or backup all your Instagram photos to your local hard drive. Unlike some other services, it lets you download all photos by packing them in a single archive which one can later upload or share with anyone. It also offers some ‘Advanced Options’ for those not interested in downloading entire pictures. This way you can export a collection of recently taken photos, photos took between a particular time interval, and photos tagged with a specific tag. The option of porting to Facebook, Flickr, RSS isn’t possible at the moment and is said to be added soon.

To Backup your Instagram Photos using Instaport, simply visit instaport.me, login with your Instagram username and password. Then authorize the app to grant access to your photos, friend lists, and profile data. Now select the download .zip file option or any other advanced option, and click Start Export. Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM version comes in several variants and you might not be aware that the source for its OTA updates varies depending on the device version. After going through some credible forums, we noticed different product names of Galaxy Nexus (GSM) such as yakju, yakjuxw, yakjusc, yakjujp, yakjuux, etc. Apparently, it’s said that devices with ‘yakju’ build are Google branded and thus eligible to receive updates directly from Google. Whereas, devices with non-yakju builds (yakjuxw) having brand as Samsung are region/carrier specific and will probably get updates from Samsung. There is no confirmation yet if there is any difference in the updates but it is certain that Google delivers prompt updates while those from Samsung are delayed by a few weeks.

Here’s an easy way to Check the product version of Samsung Galaxy Nexus which can help you easily determine whether your device is updated by Google or Samsung. Simply install the free app ‘GN Official Update Checker’ from Google Play on your Galaxy Nexus. Then run it to check the device product name, yakju or yakjuxw.

If you’re looking for more detailed info than just the product name, then install the app ‘Android System Info’ from Google Play. The app provides a lot of technical information about Hardware, System, Telephony, etc. and has built-in Task Manager, App manager, logs viewer, battery stats and more.

Nandroid Browser is an amazing and a must have app for Android users interested in rooting and flashing custom ROMs. If you’re involved in such technical practice then you must be aware about nandroid backups as well. Nandroid Backup involves making a complete backup of your entire Android phone which includes your current ROM, apps, settings, and other data stored on internal storage. (This doesn’t includes any data located on your SD card). To take a nandroid backup, it’s firstly necessary to root the device and install custom recovery like ClockworkMod Recovery. Afterwards, simply take a backup of your phone and restore it back from within the recovery mode.

Nandroid Browser is a free app for Android that serves a simple but useful purpose. It allows you to easily browse your nandroid backups and extract individual files right on your phone, which rather would require an uneasy task. With Nandroid browser, one can simply explore the nandroid backup (if store on sd card), browse through the several .img files and extract single APK files from it. Google actively introduces new features to Google Plus and the recent addition by them is a useful and top requested one. Google Plus has finally added the ability to reorder your photos and move them between albums, directly from within Google+. This was even possible earlier using Picasa Web but that wasn’t the most convenient and simple way. The integration of an album organizer will let users easily organize their photo albums from the ‘Photos’ section in G+. This way you can rearrange the pictures in a proper desired sequence and can also move or copy photos to another album!

To get started, open an album and select ‘Organize album’ from the Options menu.

With the album organizer you can:

Sort photos by time: Click Order by date to sort all photos in the album by the photo date, from earliest to latest. Click it again to sort them from latest to earliest.

Reorder your photos: Select the photos you want to reorder and drag them to their new position in the album. You can also move selected photos to the start or end of the album by clicking Move to top or Move to bottom.

Move or copy photos to another album: Clicking Move lets you move or copy selected photos to one of your other albums or to a new album.

Delete a bunch of photos: Click Delete to delete the selected photos.

Afterwards, click Done organizing to save the changes.

This is indeed a nifty feature considering Photos play a significant role on Google+.
