Credit Card or CC is an essential and prominent financial product these days, usually owned by a majority of users to buy goods and services. If you’re a Credit Card or Debit Card holder, then you must have noticed the 16-digit numeric code inscribed on the card. But as most of you might wonder, those 16 numbers aren’t given randomly but serves an important purpose. According to an amazing algorithm by Mint.com, one can simply crack the credit card code and determine if the card number is invalid or fake. Sounds weird? Just try it on your CC and make sure to do the math right!

We tried this trick on a valid Credit Card and a Debit Card as well (both Visa), and surprisingly the result turned out true as the final sum was divisible by 10. Do try this out and remember to follow the described steps carefully. :)

The entirely new interface makes it more faster and simpler to connect with your friends, followers, discover latest stories, suggestions on who to follow and see trending topics, etc. The Tweetdeck web version has also got a whole new design, along with native Tweetdeck application for Windows and Mac that doesn’t requires Adobe Air anymore. Besides this, Twitter share and follow buttons have also got a slight color gradient update.

The latest twitter update makes it easier for everyone to view and interact with tweets on the web in the same ways as you do from any twitter client. Twitter has now added the functionality to embed tweets or any conversation to a site or blog in a few clicks without needing any extra skills. You just need to copy and paste a few lines of code.

Embeddable tweets lets the users catch up the shared tweets directly without leaving your site. Visitors can follow the author with a single-click, reply, retweet, or favorite the Tweet instantly from the page itself. You can try it now in the newly launched Twitter. Steps to simply embed a tweet to a website:

1. Visit your or anyone else twitter profile. Then tap on the desired tweet or click Open to see the Details option.

2. Click on ‘Details’, so the permalink page of that particular tweet opens up.

3. Tap on ‘Embed this Tweet’ and a pop-up will appear. Choose the preferred alignment, copy the HTML code and paste it to the HTML section of your site or blog post.

It’s even more easier to embed Tweets on WordPress or Posterous Spaces.

WordPress bloggers can embed Tweets directly into their posts by simply copying the Tweet URL or using a familiar shortcode. Once published, WordPress instantly turns that URL or shortcode into an embedded Tweet.

Posterous Spaces has also enabled embedded Tweets. People can easily add Tweets using their existing workflows: Posterous’ browser bookmarklet, email, the Posterous Web Editor, or their iPhone or Android Apps. For more information, read Posterous Spaces’ announcement on their blog.

It now appears that YouTube is testing a fresh new design for their homepage which isn’t introduced for official preview yet but is being rolled out randomly for some YouTube users. Moritz Tolxdorff, a smart folk on Google+ has figured out a way to get the new design by tricking a related cookie.

You can easily enable the New YouTube homepage on Google Chrome and Firefox browser. This wont affect the design of individual videos webpage. To do so,

1. Open www.youtube.com

2. Press Ctrl + Shift and J in Chrome to open the Developer Tools.

Press Ctrl+Shift+K in Firefox

3. In Chrome, click on the "Console" Tab, paste the below code and hit enter.

In Firefox, just paste the above code (next to grey arrow) and hit enter.

4. Reload YouTube and enjoy the new layout.

What’s New?

1. An all new beautifully designed homepage.

2. Subscribed and Suggested channels are listed in a sidebar on left. Added option to check the Popular and Trending videos from YouTube.

3. The mid-panel shows the lists of most recent videos from your Subscriptions, thus making it easier to keep up with the latest activity.

4. Quickly subscribe to favorite channels by sorting them on basis of categories.

5. Recommended videos are listed on the right sidebar of homepage.

This new YouTube design isn’t declared officially yet and might get changed in future.

Some of the top features included in IE9 are: Hardware accelerated graphics and text, clean user interface, Pinned sites, jump lists, new tab page, one box, HTML 5 support, the new JavaScript engine which makes it a lot faster and several other smart features.

Just like IE8, Internet Explorer 9 has built-in developer tools which help developers to quickly determine and resolve HTML, CSS, and JavaScript related problems by making changes to code from within the browser which can be previewed live. These dev tools are generally not used by the basic users but comes handy to a webmaster or web designer. To access them, just click on the gear icon and select “F12 developer tools” or simply hit F12.

Then just navigate to the ‘Tools’ tab and choose from the listed tools. One amazing and useful tool is Resize, using which one can easily check how their webpage appears in different screen resolutions. You can define a custom resolution too.

There is a Ruler to accurately measure any arbitrary objects on the screen in pixels. There are multiple colors rulers and a magnifying glass is also available for precision. A defined ruler can be moved, resized, and re-angled. Once drawn, the ruler shows the (x,y) coordinates of each end relative to position of the points and the ruler length is shown at the center of the ruler in pixels.

A basic Color Picker tool is also there that lets you pick the color sample from any object on a webpage and indicates its RGB and HEX values. To use it, just position the cursor over an object and left-click to select its color. Then click Copy and close, the HTML value of color will be copied to clipboard. For professional task, we suggest using Instant Eyedropper which has a magnifier that shows multiple shades in a solid color.

The new inbox style tab has now been turned on for almost everyone, and is also available on the new Gmail look. This new style adds 5 different Inbox tabs at the top of your inbox. Indicated as – “Try on a new inbox: Classic, Important first, Unread first, Starred first, Priority Inbox”.

If you’ve already saw this new inbox style then you must have noticed that the ‘Inbox-style tabs toolbar’ disappears from your Gmail interface after a while. Well that’s not a magic but smarty Gmail that removes those tabs bar, after watching you settled on a particular favorite style for about a week. However, one can easily change the inbox style from the drop-down menu next to the Inbox label or from Settings (Inbox).

Fortunately, there is a way to easily restore the Inbox tabs toolbar in Gmail if it has vanished automatically or you closed it using the cross(x) button. To get it back, just hover your cursor over the Inbox tab in left sidebar and click on the drop down menu. Then point at Inbox Type and click the ‘Try the tabs again’ option. That’s it.

Note: Apparently, Gmail has one stupid limitation which prevents you from getting the inbox-style tab bar again. What happens is, if you close the tabs bar twice then Gmail assumes that you don’t need it. Hence, on closing the inbox tabs bar for second time, the Try the tabs again option wont appear anymore and you cant get it.

Recently, they added the option to Download Photos in full resolution and Google has now added another nice and much requested feature. Google+ now provides the ability to “Disable comments and Lock a post” before sharing to the Google+ stream. Though, both the options were available earlier too but it was only possible after making a post. Now you can make use of these option before you share, and after too.

The ‘Disable Comments’ prevents everyone from making a comment on a specific post and the ‘Lock this post’ restricts everyone from re-sharing your post with others.

When you disable comments on a post, other people will no longer be able to leave comments (but they can still +1 and reshare it).

When you lock a post, people you’ve shared your post with will no long be able to reshare it with others or mention people you haven’t shared it with.

To implement these options before posting an entry to Google+ stream, just tap the grey down arrow button as shown in above image. Then choose the preferred options.

While navigating through Facebook, I just noticed a new option “Unfollow Post” that lets you Stop receiving notifications for a particular post when someone makes a comment on it. Certainly, this is a nifty addition and would be used by a lot of people who participate in a certain post and then receive a bloat of notifications related to it. Now you can just unfollow any post made by you or someone else and get rid from the frequent notification pop-ups.

Note: The ‘Unfollow Post’ option only appears on Facebook when you post a comment on a post. Also, it seems that the option can be seen only if the person at whose post you’ve commented, is friends with you or you’ve subscribed to his/her updates.

You can easily ‘unfollow post’ to stop getting notified when someone comments or select ‘Follow Post’ option to get notified again.

Google Transliteration is a free and useful online service that lets you write in Hindi using the normal English keyboard. Additionally, it also supports other Indic languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Urdu, etc.

There are various formatting options that can be used to generate the text in a desired size and font. To write in your language, just visit www.google.com/transliterate. Choose the output language and then start writing. Then copy-paste the conversion anywhere.

For example: When you type namaste, it will get converted to ?????? after hitting Space bar. Clicking on the translated word will show other related words that you can select if the initial word is not relevant. Make sure to type in Hindi (just like SMS language) to get the Hindi conversion in Devanagari script.

Transliteration bookmarklet – This comes handy when you want to type in your language easily on any website. The tool uses the Google transliteration service in the background. To use the bookmarklet to type in Hindi, just drag the Hindi Bookmarklet to your Bookmarks bar. [Visit here to get other language bookmarklets]

To write in Hindi, click on the bookmarklet and you’ll notice a bold ? in the typing filed. This means that you can now start typing and text will get converted into set language.

If you want to type anywhere in your language without need of an Internet connection, then install the Transliteration IME, available for Windows OS (32-bit and 64-bit).

Google Transliteration IME is an input method editor which allows users to enter text in one of the supported languages using a roman keyboard. Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script. Note that this is not the same as translation – it is the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning.
