If you like any YouTube video and want to download it to your PC, then here is a simple and 1-click step to do it. This can be done easily with the help of bookmarklet, which you can place on your browsers toolbar.

PwnYouTube

Bookmarklet: PwnYouTube

Drag the above link to your links toolbar and click it when you are viewing
any public webpage with a YouTube video. Then you will get the option to download as shown below:

Now you don’t need any software, nor copy/paste the links to download the required videos. The videos can be saved either in FLV or MP4 format. You can also download the video by simply adding a short word (pwn) to the video URL or link.

How to download from YouTube.com:

  1. View a video on YouTube.
  2. In the URL location box, type pwn in front of youtube, and enter.
  3. Get links to download the video!

Get YouTube video

Bookmarklet: Get YouTube video

When you want to download a YouTube video, just click on the bookmarklet. Then YouTube will save the video as “video.mp4“.

YouTube’s MP4 files have a higher resolution, stereo sound and can be played with applications like VLC, MPlayer, iTunes, QuickTime. Not all YouTube videos can be downloaded as MP4 files and the fallback format is FLV.

If the video is available in HD, the bookmarklet and the script downloads the HD version. [via]

Update – Due to recent changes in YouTube, the above bookmarklets may not work. Check our new post below:
