How to convert any Video file to .mp4 using VLC player

Today, I found a nice trick to encode almost any movie/video file to the .mp4 format (so you can put it on your ipod / cellphone / anything else).

The only thing you need for this guide is the AMAZING, Free program called VLC media player which you can download it here for any platform (Windows/Linux/Mac). Follow the simple guide below to do the required action.

you might want to point folks to a newer version of the tutorial as the interface for the new VLC is quite different and they can get lost. if they are willing to dig a bit, they can figure it out for themselves, but most will throw up their hands and walk away.

You are right ian as the new vlc interface is far different from older one.
I’ll try to post an article for conversion on new vlc player.

Mayur, Can you post the update, please, I am stuck with the new interface of VLC and so far have not succeeded to convert my AVI files to anything I can import to iTunes and iPhone
