By default, Google opens the search results in same page only. This feature is not helpful if you want to open many results, leaving your search results list intact.

Google search provides the option to Open results in a new tab or window. To enable this option follow the steps below:

1. Visit the Google Preferences page.

2. Check the Results window box at the bottom that says ‘Open search results in a new browser window.’

3. Click Save Preferences.

Now each time you open any result it will load in a new tab. To open the search result in a New window, hold down the Shift button and click the result link.

Alternatively, you can also Right-click on the link to Open link in new window or Tab.

Google Preferences also allows to change the language, Safe search-filters and the number of search results shown on google page.

Do we need to login through our Google account before changing the preferences. I do not use Google toolbar. I don’t think that there should be a problem.
