kaspersky logoKaspersky is one of the top security software providing best protection to your data from latest Viruses, worms, phishing attacks, malware, etc. I’ve now found a 100% working trick, using which one can use Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 after end of its 30 days trail for Free.

Follow the steps below carefully to do it:

1. Open Kaspersky settings > Options and uncheck Enable Self-Defense. Click Ok.

2. Exit Kaspersky.

3. Go to Start, open Run, then type regedit and press enter.

4. Under Registry Editor, open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Kaspersky Lab > protected > AVP9 > environment.

registry

5. Find the entry ProductStatus and change Release to Beta.

6. Press OK then open Kaspersky.

7. Under License, Activate beta license then press Next and Finish (Delete any trial keys first if any, as they wont work).

8. Re-enable Self-Defense from options.

activated kaspersky

9. Now you have 30 days of beta license activated. After every 30 days, simply click Activate Beta (delete the expired beta key first) and enjoy another 30 days Free :D

Kaspersky will now show as Beta Version though it is your final version only. Enjoy!

UpdateHow to delete the expired key & activate beta license ?

To delete beta key, open Kaspersky > License Manager and click on the red X (cross) next to the code. Then click on Yes button as shown in below image.

deleting kaspersky key

Now click ‘Activate New License’ option and then chose ‘Activate beta license’. Click Next to activate kaspersky.

Update (28 Jan) – As pointed out by most readers, I also got the same error saying ‘key is blocked’. I guess, Kaspersky has finally figured out this loophole and fixed it via updates :(

Update (29 Jan) – Finally another way is out! Our smart readers ‘Stalin & Mr. Fix it’ have provided a quick and simple solution via comments to use Kaspersky for FREE :) Check the new procedure below:

1. Delete any license keys first.

2. Disable Self-Defense and Exit kaspersky.

3. Following above steps, change the ProductStatus back to Release in registry.

4. Double click PCID and change the last 3 digits to what ever you want and click Ok.

PCID

5. Exit registry editor and restart kaspersky.

6. Select activate trial license and you should now have 30 or 31 days remaining. Repeat this method any time to reset to 30 days.

Hi Mayur,
I too found this trick but when i did this thing kaspersky popped up a message saying “this license is not for this version of this software”. Any way to get it ?

Mayur September 28, 2009 at 7:32 am

Try it properly, I myself did it on final version of KAV 2010 (9.0.0.463) and it’s working fine :)

Amal Roy September 28, 2009 at 8:42 pm

Yes bro it is working. Thanks so much.

MSNRCK September 29, 2009 at 7:06 pm

Hi,
I deleted the key that I was using before from its location, but it still keeps reporting that “The key file is not compatible with this product …. ”

How to get around this issue ?

Thanks

MSNRCK September 29, 2009 at 7:12 pm

I figured it out. Just need to exit to reset its path. Restarting KIS got it to work.

Thx

Thanx Man. It worked. Its great. Again thank u very much

andy November 3, 2009 at 5:40 am

it works only 30 days, when i go to renew beta license only activate commercial license shows up, not beta license.

Mayur November 3, 2009 at 9:34 am

You got it wrong! You first need to delete the expired beta key and then activate license. It’ll then show ‘Activate Beta license’ option.
I’m using this trick from past 2 months :D

shuvro November 4, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Nazmul Hassan November 7, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I tried it but does it work for windows 7..?? I didn’t find “protected” under components. My trial period is not over yet. will it work before.? Please reply. Badly need it.

Omar November 8, 2009 at 5:11 pm

I have the same problem as Nazmul Hassan.
I can’t find the folder “protected” in regedit.
Maybe because it’s the latest and only version that works on Windows 7?
Anyone else had this problem at first?

Omar November 8, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I found the solution to make this work on Windows 7.
You can find ProductStatus at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment

Omar November 8, 2009 at 6:00 pm

Hey man,
It does work for W7 but you have to look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment.

goodluck

lot November 10, 2009 at 7:33 am

works… very clever

lot November 10, 2009 at 7:35 am

and its not blacklisted up to this date

asdasdasdq November 15, 2009 at 7:20 am

how can I delete old serial????

alex November 18, 2009 at 10:16 am

To delete old key: Under Registry Editor, open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Kaspersky Lab > protected > AVP9 > environment

then where it says ProductCode, erase it, press okay. now open up kaspersky and activate the beta license. worked for me! good luck.

snipeuonhead November 18, 2009 at 6:18 pm

snipeuonhead November 18, 2009 at 6:20 pm

Symphony December 6, 2009 at 12:37 am

ka December 9, 2009 at 2:32 am

works. thx.

Lylian John December 10, 2009 at 4:03 pm

i will appreciate it if i can use this anti virus

Nino December 10, 2009 at 10:18 pm

I Have KIS 2010 v9.0.0.736, tried to change the name to Beta but it keep saying: error writing the new values

Mani December 12, 2009 at 11:09 am

I followed all steps and its working for me 100 %. To delete the key open the license manager as in picture of step 8. You can see the Red Cross (X) on top right of the White background area. just click this ‘X’ and delete the keys.

To prevent from “error writing the new values”, strictly follow the step 1.

Jorj December 13, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Thank`s a lot Mayur. Work 100% for me (KIS 2010 9.0.0.736 a.b).

jed January 12, 2010 at 11:53 pm

thx man works fine!!!

Delboo January 13, 2010 at 6:08 pm

this deserves a thank!
mostly of these ‘guides’ don’t work..
you have full service for one month and then ‘you could get a new license’
and surprise surprise .. it won’t work.
but this, (my license expired today) is genius !
it works like kickass! thanks =’)

alan smith January 15, 2010 at 3:38 pm

geniuses!! you guys are simply geniuses!!
such a simple solution to what felt like a mind blowing problem..
i can proudly (that’s right, PROUDLY!) say i bought genuine KIS licenses for several years, ever since i first learned about Kaspersky some 5-6-7 years back (and supporting the developers by doing so). I am also proud to say i even managed to convince my office to switch to KIS (genuine obviously), but (aside from feeling i contributed enough…), currently i just cannot afford it.
So i looked virtually everywhere for a solution to my ‘problem’..
I’m quite sure everyone here also went through the difficulties of downloading key files, being unable to use any of them for being blacklisted, fakes, “incompatible with the installed version” and so on and so forth…
Until i tried the option described above!
Firstly, like others commented here, i stumbled upon the differences between the instructions described and the use of win 7 but then i read the comments about win 7, i looked for it in it’s right place and bingo, it worked like a charm!
thanks, you guys :)

slwtid January 16, 2010 at 7:57 pm

Hi.. can any body help me?
I had renewed beta key for another month, after 3 days working, now problem is coming. Kasperskey can not update data due to ” Black list of key files is corrupted “. I tried to delete existing beta key and then activated new key, the problem still exist. How to solve it?
Please help..

ramdom January 18, 2010 at 1:33 am

Fantastic, that’s really wonderful, It is a simple but brilliant idea !!!
It works fine for me and I thank very much for this trick.

karen January 21, 2010 at 11:06 am

There is no Activate Beta License option in the License manager. Error description and feasible solution is there. HELP PLEASE.

karen January 21, 2010 at 11:40 am

VIKAS. i have the same problem how did you solve it?

randil wijerathne January 23, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Wow man !!! this is so cool.

Bhojendra January 24, 2010 at 11:24 am

Hi Nick!
first of all check your antivirus program as if it is “kaspersky antivirus” or “kaspersky internet security”. only then try to get license key from “activate.kaspersky.com”. if it is original license key you could be able to get a key file but if you have got the license key by searching internet browser you may not be able to get a licence key and you must use internet connection and then install the chinese verision of kaspersky antivirus then your license will work. then change your language to english version ……
any problem message me at heart_pray2006@yahoo.com
please don’t email ok i will not see
only sms ok

I just started to get the same errors today as Artimaza reported.

“Key file or activation is blocked”

This is after even deleting the existing key and trying to reactivate with a beta license. I guess Kaspersky figured it out.

sunilk January 29, 2010 at 12:12 am

Mayur …. pls do some thing yar!!!

Ben Stiller January 29, 2010 at 2:04 am

It is because of OPEN WEB discussions like these that KAS…. make changes and stuff it up for everyone else!!! Come on poeple, keep thing in an environment that requires Membership / VIP access to be able to view these type of work arounds and obviously not open to the world toooo seee. Any ways what do I know I’m only into acting ;P

Mike January 29, 2010 at 2:54 am

Looks like it’s back to ye ol’ trial resetter.

stalin January 29, 2010 at 4:14 am

change the Beta to Release, then change the PCID in the regedit, dont forget to disable the enable self defense first, if you need any help send me email, when this month finihed, i will find another solution, KASPERSKY is the best………………………. please try to purchase a license instead of using the trail………………………..

Kiminaro January 29, 2010 at 5:29 am

yea i guess so..mine also have been blocked
kaspersky has figured it out.. :(

Gogo January 29, 2010 at 6:05 am

Does anybody know some solution of manualy downloading updates to some folder, and using that folder as update source? I think that could be potential solution for using updated KAV.

Faron January 29, 2010 at 7:36 am

If you change it back to release it let me activate a 30 day trial. You may want to do that, maybe in 30 days we’ll have figured out a fix. If you don’t want to do that then don’t.

Mr. Fix it January 29, 2010 at 9:22 am

I found a fix to reset the trial version to 30 days. Disable self defense and protection in kaspersky, click apply and exit the window, right click on kaspersky icon in the tray and click exit. Click start, click run, type regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Kaspersky Lab > protected > AVP9 > environment. In the right hand pain right click PCID and click modify. change the last 3 digits to what ever you want and click ok. exit registry editor and restart kaspersky, select activate trial and you should now have 30 or 31 days remaining. Repeat at any time to reset to 30 days.

Mr. Fix it January 29, 2010 at 9:24 am

Addition to my last post. Make sure that productstatus inside the same registry location is set to release and not beta. Delete the license key before changing the pcid in the registry.

Mr. Fix it January 29, 2010 at 10:01 am

Well crap, I didnt see that stalin posted this before me, oh well

curse January 29, 2010 at 2:16 pm

it cant change to release and also PCID.
“Error writing the value’s new content”

meek meeek January 29, 2010 at 2:59 pm

thanks mr fix it..dat works like a charm

Mimiii January 29, 2010 at 3:53 pm

Yeah, the thing that stalin discribed works pretty fine:)
Thanks

gaurav January 29, 2010 at 4:49 pm

works awesome..thanks

Gogo January 29, 2010 at 6:54 pm

thanks mr fix, it’s life saving tip;)

Mike January 29, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Thanks Stalin and Mr fix It. Very nice. I have a trial resetter I found awhile back though it always gives a warning about a trojan, which is most likely a false positive. However, I’d rather hack the registry myself and KNOW what’s actually going on. Your method allows for that.

Artimaza January 29, 2010 at 7:11 pm

haha
Mr. Fix it, Stalin U’re the men!!!
Big time guys!!!
got it working ok
many thanks

fafa January 30, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Problemsss :S January 30, 2010 at 9:51 pm

Hello, I don’t know what happen?, in the registry editor I found the Kaspersky lab, but only appears the Components carpet not the one that should be appears, and I already disable self defense and exit kaspersky. Can you help me?

Dani January 30, 2010 at 11:58 pm

You don’t have unable auto-protecction. Normaly this is the reason. Go to settings menu->Options and uncheck ‘Enable Auto Protecction’

Dani January 31, 2010 at 12:03 am

I’m sure you use Windows 7, so the name of the folder in regedit is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node

Tigo January 31, 2010 at 1:57 am

Thank you for useful tip

CP January 31, 2010 at 6:44 pm

badri February 10, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Hello, kaspersky is working again, thanks a lot. But,I don’t know why,if I give Full Scan task,it is taking ages to complete. Before,it was quicker.Any problems with the latest tricks.I would be happy to know about this……..

Anon February 10, 2010 at 10:51 pm

Works fine. That PCID way has to do with the internal mechanism of how KIS identifies your pc. Now we will see if they can change it in the future. At least now it works.

Deepak February 11, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Ray March 10, 2010 at 6:11 am

new method works perfectly, i was getting the “key file or activation code blocked” error when resetting trial, but now all is well thanks guys!!!

sammy March 11, 2010 at 2:08 pm

hi, the new way works like a charm on KAV 2010 but everyday when i turn on my computer it displays a reminder that im using the trial version and displays the days left, its very annoying thats why i wanna reinstall KAV 7.0, however the registry tweak doesn’t work as i cannot find the PCID file. can someone please help me.

Just Looking March 12, 2010 at 12:09 pm

That’s a seriously dense question. If you honestly think something like this would work for a completely separate program like ESS, then you really shouldn’t be messing with Registry settings AT ALL. You’re likely going to hose something up!

Buy a license instead. It will save you having to pay someone to fix your system!

wangwang March 14, 2010 at 10:39 pm

I have uninstalled a 30 day trial and installed the kav2010 and when i installed it again a “license:expired” has shown below the window of the application. Does this work in vista anyway? where can i find those registry like PCID?

wangwang March 14, 2010 at 10:54 pm

it worked after all.. just read one of the post.. regarding win 7 and whoala!!! its there.. thanks guys…

zuman March 15, 2010 at 3:14 pm

I find it KAV 7.0 just nice, however trial has expired got blocked. Anyone got any idea to make it work?
sammy: Any idea?

Sinobiah March 24, 2010 at 9:17 am

Wow, this really deserves a thank you! I’ve looked everywhere on the net and so far this is the first and only post that has worked! After searching endless hours on the net, finally found this useful post.

The first gave an error, but the second solution seemed to fix the problem!

Thanks alot guys, you all deserve a thumbs up!

John March 25, 2010 at 9:34 am

Error is coming that cannot edit PCID

Cool. I wasn’t able to get the beta thing working. But, playing with the PCID key did the trick. Now, I have free Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Hurray. Hope they do not put a fix for this in the next update.

Naruto April 25, 2010 at 9:40 am

GOD BLESS YOU! :)

Tra May 12, 2010 at 4:40 pm

I cant change the PCID, it is said you cant edit the PCID, although I did it last time followed your instructions and succeeded. My license is 2 days more, but I wanna activate now, so is this ok or does it prevent me to activate new trial license?

Xeeshan May 14, 2010 at 1:01 pm

@ Tra:

dear 1st disable kaspersky self defense and then exit kaspersky even from taskbar’s tray icon & then you can edit PCID, once u edit it then restart ur machine. after that activate trial version it will work

fafa May 16, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Don May 21, 2010 at 12:02 am

yepieyeah May 27, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Still works just the 3 digits have just been moved instead of being the last three they are the three before the last four. May not be very clear… but it works, just need adjustment

gopi May 28, 2010 at 4:24 pm

hi nice job.. thank u.. rock it..

AlStar May 28, 2010 at 9:33 pm

Thanks a lot! It worked, somehow.
I deleted the trial license, closed KIS, then changed the last 3 characters of PCID, and ProductStatus back to “Release”. Then I started KIS, and activated the trial license. I hope it lasts for a long time:)

BrunoS3 May 29, 2010 at 12:03 am

omgggg XD It works!~ Thanks a million =] Big props to the guys figured this out! Yay ^^ Ta-ta :3

The Beast May 31, 2010 at 9:52 pm

well done, works with PCID tip but you forgot to tell to restart in safe mode then to your steps becouse KAV has some active proceses and don’t let you modify registry.

The Beast May 31, 2010 at 10:04 pm

you need first to restart in SAFE MODE to kill all antivirus proceses and then you cand modify registryes as you wish and you need just to change last 3 digits of PCID

mandy June 1, 2010 at 6:02 am

The latest method is also not working

i’m using kaspersky antivirus 9.0.0.736
i can’t find PCID in the registry editor, i’m windows 7 user

sandie July 27, 2010 at 3:01 pm

you guys forgot to enable self-defence and yes i tried it and it works and i am so excited

sandie July 27, 2010 at 3:14 pm

i achieve my aim as i followed the instructions but also discovered that you left out the part where you enable the self-defence back

???? July 29, 2010 at 9:40 am

The last way of extending the trial period is working (changing PCID).
If someone is having a problem changing registry settings (access denied), you need to restart your computer in Safe Mode with command prompt, start Windows Task Manager by pressing simultaneously CTRL+ALT+DEL. After this from File menu select New Task and type: regedit and press Enter. Change the registry key and restart computer in normal mode.

Mihai Tmisulica July 29, 2010 at 1:23 pm

29 july 2010 works like a charm !!! last methot , it’s very simple, and i didn’t erase the old key
Just disable self-defense, changing the last 3 digidts from PCID, restarted and choosing demo licence or something like that. Great job man , thanks a lot !

KEEP ON GOING !

In the 64-bit version of Windows 7 the hive for KasperskyLab can be found under Wow6432Node (which is the hive for 32-bit applications). The full registry path is as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment

Enjoy
