After a while, Firefox browser might tend to encounter issues like slowdown, errors, sudden crashes, unwanted toolbars, etc. making it difficult to enjoy a clean, safe and faster browsing environment. Luckily, Mozilla has finally coped up with this problem by introducing a smart and easy way to Reset Firefox in the latest beta version of Firefox. Firefox 13 Beta with new ‘Reset’ feature offers the ability to restore Firefox to its default factory state without re-installing and while saving your essential information.

Certainly, this is a great addition to Firefox as users would now be able to fix most issues simply by resetting and without requiring any type of manual troubleshooting. Resetting doesn’t hard reset the browser, it works by creating a new profile folder while preserving your Bookmarks, Browsing history, Passwords, Cookies, and form auto-fill information. To make the restoration seamless and effective, Firefox does not saves your extensions/ add-ons, themes, open tabs/windows, tab groups, download history, and more.

To reset Firefox to its default configuration, click on the Firefox button located at top-left corner, open the Help sub-menu and select ‘Troubleshooting Information’. Then click on the ‘Reset Firefox’ button, a confirmation window will appear, tap to continue. Upon resetting, Firefox will list the information imported. Click Finish to open!

Google Chrome, the best and most popular web browser has turned more awesome with the introduction of a new smart feature that syncs all your tabs across devices and thus provides the ability to quickly access the tabs that you opened on your other device. Let’s say, you’ve a Chrome session running on your computer, and perhaps you want to access it from your notebook on the go. Chrome beta now makes it possible! This is indeed a great and useful feature, earlier available in Dev releases.

To Enable Syncing of All Tabs Across Other devices, firstly install the latest Chrome beta on all of your devices. Then open Settings, click on ‘Advanced sync settings’ and make sure the ‘Open Tabs’ option is checked (enabled by default if Sync everything is selected). You need to do this on all your devices that you want to sync and ensure that you’re signed into the same Google account as on your other devices. Now when you’re on the New tab page, there will be a new option ‘Other Devices’ in the bottom right corner of Chrome. Just click on it to access tabs opened on your other devices like Chromebook, Macbook, PC, Android phone, etc.

The tab’s back and forward navigation history is also included, so you can pick up browsing right where you left off. If you use Chrome for Android Beta, the tab will also be available on your phone, right there in your pocket when you hit the road.

Unlike Windows 7 and other Windows OS, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview misses the substantially used Start menu button (located at the bottom left corner). Though, it was available in the initial Windows 8 Developer Preview but Microsoft somehow decided to remove it from Windows 8 Beta. This is quite a bummer for majority of Windows 8 CP users who frequently use the start menu on Windows. Fortunately, Stardock – the makers of popular Windows customization programs like Object Desktop has released ‘Start8’, an application to retain Windows 7/Vista like Start Orb in Windows 8.

Start 8 is a free program, specifically designed for Windows 8 Consumer Preview to bring back the traditional ‘Start Menu’ functionality to Windows 8. However, on clicking the Start button it doesn’t shows the classic start menu but an impressive Metro like cool interface, enabling quick access to installed applications and search function.

Moreover, it adds Run and Shutdown option to the context menu, easily accessible by right-clicking the Start button. Other options include: ‘Choose a custom Start button image’ and ‘Show Fullscreen Metro Start Menu’ to entirely display Metro Start screen.

Currently in beta, Start8 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8 CP.

Microsoft Corp. yesterday announced the availability of Kinect for Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) from Microsoft Research, a free beta release for non-commercial applications. The Kinect for Windows SDK beta is a programming toolkit for application developers that enables the academic and enthusiast communities to create rich experiences by using Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect sensor technology on computers running Windows 7 operating system.

The SDK is designed to empower a growing community of developers, academic researchers and enthusiasts to create new experiences that include depth sensing, human motion tracking, and voice and object recognition using Kinect technology on Windows 7.

The Kinect for Windows SDK, which works with Windows 7, includes drivers, rich APIs for Raw Sensor Streams, natural user interfaces, installer documents and resource materials. It provides Kinect capabilities to developers building applications with C++, C# or Visual Basic using Microsoft Visual Studio® 2010.

Features of the SDK include:

Raw Sensor Streams - Developers have access to raw data streams from depth sensor, color camera sensor and the four-element microphone array. These will allow them to build upon the low-level streams generated by the Kinect sensor.

Skeletal Tracking - The SDK has the capability to track the skeleton image of one or two people moving within the Kinect field of view, making it possible to create gesture-driven applications.

Advanced Audio Capabilities - Audio processing capabilities include sophisticated noise suppression and echo cancellation, beam formation to identify the current sound source, and integration with the Windows speech recognition API.

Ease of installation - The SDK quickly installs in a standard way for Windows 7 with no complex configuration required and a complete installer size of less than 100 MB. Developers can get up and running in just a few minutes with a standard standalone Kinect sensor unit widely available at retail.

Extensive documentation - The SDK includes more than 100 pages of high-quality technical documentation. In addition to built-in help files, the documentation includes detailed walkthroughs for most samples provided with the SDK.
