Bharti Airtel has revised its Internet Broadband Plans a few days ago, that are surely a boon to users who were highly annoyed with Airtel’s Fair Usage Policy. The new revised plans offers High Download speed along with an Increase in FUP limits at much affordable rates than ever before. Airtel seems to have undertaken this step after handling a lot of criticism for its FUP and tough competition from other Indian telecom operators.

According to new plans, there is an increase in data transfer quota at high speed for the Unlimited plans. There are some limited data transfer plans too for moderate users that offer good download speed. Active customers don’t need to worry, your broadband plan will be updated in the next billing cycle thus bringing in the changes made to your current plan. Some new plans provide both high speed and better FUP limit while some just increase your download speed and cut down the FUP limit, as was happened in my case.

For instance, I use Airtel 999 plan in UP(W) region which used to offer 1Mbps till 15GB and 256Kbps beyond that. With the introduction of revised plans, my plan is applicable to get 2Mbps till 10GB and 256Kbps beyond that. That cuts down my FUP limit by 5GB. The bill cap has been increased to Rs.300 for all networks which earlier was Rs.200.

However, the case is not similar for all and varies on basis of different regions in India. We’ve figured out the most appealing Broadband Plans which all are Unlimited but still carries a FUP, which is certainly much better than before. Take a look below!

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL), Mumbai has just introduced 4 new Broadband plans whose speed differs in Day and Night. All these plans are Unlimited, very much affordable and offers high Internet speed at Night. These plans are best for speedy browsing during the day at speed of 320 Kbps, 512 Kbps and 1 Mbps, you can schedule your heavy downloads for night time where stuff can be downloaded fast at high speed ranging from 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps, during the Night period (10 PM to 8 AM).

These new plans by MTNL Mumbai provide Unlimited amount of Monthly Data Transfer and there is NO FUP applicable on any of these plans. There is a Bonus pack too, users get upto 2 Mbps of speed on Sundays for the entire day. The Unlimited 888 and Unlimited 1333 plans look pretty decent for users with high bandwidth consumption.

Some days back, the “3G services” section was added to the Airtel website, thus giving a clear indication that Airtel is very close to introduce its 3G service in India. Bharti Airtel has now officially announced that it will launch 3G services before the end of 2010, to usher in broadband data revolution in the country.

Airtel will offer customers the widest 3G network in India. Airtel successfully bid for 3G spectrum in 13 telecom circles across India and is rolling out state-of-the-art networks in these geographies. These 13 telecom circles also constitute 68% of Airtel’s revenue market share. This includes key metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, which account for 21% of all data traffic in the country and are expected to have the strongest uptake of 3G services.

Bharti will be deploying high speed HSPA networks provided by Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Network and Huawei. The High Speed Packet Access network will be the best in world in terms of technology and will enable high peak user throughputs.

Airtel is coming up with some exciting news these days like – Introduction of 4Mbps Impatience plans, Doubles Broadband speed at no extra cost, Brings iPhone 3GS, and now offering an unexpected blazingly fast speed broadband in India.

Bharti Airtel, India’s leading private telecom services provider, announced to Offer an ultra fast 50 Mbps speed in select areas in Delhi and Gurgaon. It uses the VDSL2 technology, fastest wireline broadband on in India.

"We are delighted to introduce 50 mbps speed — the fastest, wired broadband service. This ultra-fast broadband connection will allow customers, the convenience to download songs in seconds and full length feature films in less than three minutes," Bharti Airtel Joint President (Telemedia Services) K Srinivas said in a statement.

VDSL2 (Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) is the newest and most advanced standard of DSL broadband wireline communications. It’s designed to support the wide deployment of Triple Play services such as voice, video, data, high definition television (HDTV) and interactive gaming.

Tariff Plans -

@ Rs. 8999 per month, experience 50 Mbps broadband speed with free data transfer upto 200 GB and additional free VAS.

@ Rs. 7999 per month, experience 30 Mbps broadband speed with free data transfer upto 200 GB and additional free VAS.

Both the plans offer free value added services (VAS) like parallel ringing, website builder (basic), antivirus software, online storage and unlimited gaming on games on demand.

Our Verdict – Certainly, these high speed plans can let you download full length movies in a few minutes. E.g. a 700 MB movie in 3-4 minutes. But the plan charges are really high as they set a download limit of 200 GB, which is unacceptable.

An exciting news is here for all Airtel Broadband users. Recently, Bharti Airtel has made an official announcement to double the speed for its Broadband customers at no extra charge.

Airtel is upgrading speeds of all its existing customers (on 64, 128, 256 Kbps) to a minimum of 512 Kbps. Further, customers currently on 512 Kbps plans and 1 Mbps plans will have their speeds doubled to 1Mbps and 2Mbps respectively. The upgrades come at no extra cost to existing customers and will be completed by June 2010 pan India.

Airtel also announced the launch of ‘Impatience Plans’ – Offering 4 Mbps speed plans starting at Rs. 899/ month.

This is really an exceptional move by Airtel to delight and maximize its subscribers, and a challenge to other telecom service providers in India.

Update (March 31) - I’m from UP (W) with an Airtel 256Kbps Unlimited plan. I’m delighted to tell, today my broadband speed got doubled from 256 kbps to 512 kbps for Free. Check the below screenshots for proof:

Airtel Broadband has introduced a range of new and exciting ‘Impatience plans’ which aims to provide Unlimited download at fast speed of 4Mbps and at affordable prices.

What’s the catch? The catch is all impatience plans have a certain download limit, which when exceeded will reduce your download speed to 256Kbps. This is not a big concern as you can avail a high speed of 4mbps at very low prices. Also, all the 4 plans offers a range of free goodies.
