Windows Themes Installer is a freeware portable utility which allows users to install custom 3rd party theme, remove a theme and restore defaults easily in Windows 7 and Vista. The new version automatically patches system files without the need of any 3rd party system file patcher.

You can now use any custom theme completely using this single program. Just browse to the directory of theme files and click Install theme. There is also an option to Restore default system files. I tried this utility and found it really handy. Do try it out!

It is developed by Kishan Bagaria, and shared via The Windows club.

Tweaks.com Logon Changer for Windows 7 provides an easy way to customize the logon screen background with just a few clicks. Using logon changer is very simple to use.

1. Simply download the free application, run it and click Change Logon Screen.
2. The application will prompt for the location of the new background image and then install the new screen behind the scenes.
3. Tweaks.com Logon Changer will even provide a preview of your new background on a logon screen.

When you have settled on a good logon background, click the Test button to see it in action. Make sure that the background image you select is smaller than 256KB, otherwise it will be rejected because of a size limitation set by Microsoft.

You can also Revert to Default Windows 7 Logon Screen and the application will automatically uninstall any customized screens.

Fences is a free application from Stardock that helps you organize your desktop, and can hide your icons when they’re not in use.

It allows you to draw labeled shaded areas on your desktop, which become movable & resizable containers for your desktop icons. These groups can help bring organization and consistency to your computer’s desktop, solving the "constant mess" problem.

Fences helps you glow the wallpaper which you have hiding behind all that clutter. It also offers a novel quick-hide feature (in-patenting-process). Double click your desktop, and all your icons will fade out. Double click again, and they’ll return.
