Finally, Google has released Google+ web app for Google Chrome that unfortunately fails to impress the users. That’s because the app is apparently nothing but a basic site bookmark linking to plus.google.com. It simply adds G+ shortcut icon to Chrome’s new tab page but lacks any other functionality.

The Google+ official extension might be delighting for G+ addicts and pointless at the same time for the rest of masses. For those who aren’t aware, Google has earlier made available a couple of handy Google+ extensions for Chrome – Google+ Notifications and Google +1 Button. We really expect Google to offer something more engaging that could intensify the experience of Google+ users.

AdSense Publisher Toolbar is a great and handy Chrome extension, allowing users to view their adsense account earnings in an overlay without visiting Adsense site and from any webpage in Chrome. Apparently, it is weird to see that Google named this cool extension as a toolbar which it’s certainly Not. It’s a boon for those interested in checking their site earnings several times a day. Account earnings summary are displayed for today, yesterday, this month, last month. It also shows Top 5 custom channels and even the ‘Lifetime revenue’ generated from the linked Adsense account.

Besides just showing your income, the extension has another amazing feature ‘In-site ad overlay’ that shows instant summary of each ad unit’s earnings (today, yesterday, last 7 days) running on your site and also the ad unit size. To enable ad overlays, simply visit your site and tick mark the ‘Show ad overlays’ option from within the extension. Instantly, you will be able to see earnings summary for every individual ad unit directly on your site. This is something really impressive that could help users in determining how their ad units are performing.

Google +1 Button extension for Chrome works much better than the unofficial ones. It is fast, accurate, and shows the +1 counts for a certain webpage. This comes handy in case when you wish to +1 a web page but the site hasn’t installed the +1 button yet. You can +1 a page and Undo +1 using its button in Chrome bar from top-right side. One can opt to show +1′s to friends, and others to share the best stuff added by them.

Unfortunately, the extension doesn’t yet has the ability to Share on Google+, but they will automatically update it over time. Install it now and wait for other new features.

The +1’s made appears in the +1’s tab on your Google+ profile. You can choose to show the +1s tab on your profile or disable it to prevent from being seen publicly.

To use it, just click the Tabulate button at top right and it will instantly copy the URL with all running links to your clipboard. On opening the URL, it will display a list of all the sites. Click on the Links To Open In New Tab or choose to Open All links at once.

Chrome has the functionality to display PDFs integrated into webpages using the built-in PDF reader plugin. But some of you might not be aware that Google Chrome also offers the ability to open and view any PDF documents, residing in your local directory or computer. You no more need to use dedicated softwares like Adobe PDF Reader, Foxit Reader, etc. just to view the PDF files because Chrome does this job very well.

With Chrome one can read PDF documents without any distraction as there is no extra sidebar or menu bar to customize the PDF. However, there are options to view PDF in full-size, Zoom In and Out, Save or Print PDF. Luckily, the options panel shows up only when you hover the cursor at the bottom right corner of the webpage. Moreover, you can also view Password-protected PDFs with Chrome. Just try it out! You might then want to set Google Chrome as default PDF viewer to open your PDF files.

To make Chrome the default PDF reader, right-click on any PDF file and select ‘Open with’. Choose Google Chrome as the default program and hit Ok. (Browse to the directory C:\Users\Mayur\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application and select Chrome.exe). Listed location is for Windows 7, directory may differ in Windows XP.

Tip: If you want to open specific PDF files with Chrome, then just drag the file to the Google Chrome icon on your desktop.

The 2nd impressive feature ‘Print preview’ offers the ability to Preview a webpage before printing. It is currently available for Windows and Linux (coming soon for Mac). This is an easy “print to PDF” option that uses Chrome’s fast built-in PDF viewer and includes several options like changing color, layout of the print page, etc.

The omnibox, Chrome’s combination search box and address bar, has gotten much smarter in the latest release, making it even easier for you to get back to pages you’ve visited before. Chrome for Mac hasn’t got full-screen functionality yet but Lion seems to have done the needful but with a glitch. Yes, you can of course run Chrome in full screen window on 10.7 Lion but the Esc button doesn’t exits the full-screen and the only way that seems to get back to normal screen is to Quit Google Chrome which you would hate to do.

Well, there is a keyboard shortcut to bring Chrome out of Full-screen on Lion. While in full screen, press the key combination Cmd+Shift+F to switch Chrome to normal screen mode. Alternatively, place your cursor at top to show up Menu bar for Chrome, open View and select ‘Exit Full Screen’.
