Some of the top features included in IE9 are: Hardware accelerated graphics and text, clean user interface, Pinned sites, jump lists, new tab page, one box, HTML 5 support, the new JavaScript engine which makes it a lot faster and several other smart features.

Just like IE8, Internet Explorer 9 has built-in developer tools which help developers to quickly determine and resolve HTML, CSS, and JavaScript related problems by making changes to code from within the browser which can be previewed live. These dev tools are generally not used by the basic users but comes handy to a webmaster or web designer. To access them, just click on the gear icon and select “F12 developer tools” or simply hit F12.

Then just navigate to the ‘Tools’ tab and choose from the listed tools. One amazing and useful tool is Resize, using which one can easily check how their webpage appears in different screen resolutions. You can define a custom resolution too.

There is a Ruler to accurately measure any arbitrary objects on the screen in pixels. There are multiple colors rulers and a magnifying glass is also available for precision. A defined ruler can be moved, resized, and re-angled. Once drawn, the ruler shows the (x,y) coordinates of each end relative to position of the points and the ruler length is shown at the center of the ruler in pixels.

A basic Color Picker tool is also there that lets you pick the color sample from any object on a webpage and indicates its RGB and HEX values. To use it, just position the cursor over an object and left-click to select its color. Then click Copy and close, the HTML value of color will be copied to clipboard. For professional task, we suggest using Instant Eyedropper which has a magnifier that shows multiple shades in a solid color.

As per Security Bulletin MS11-050, the update addresses the vulnerabilities by modifying the way Internet Explorer enforces the content settings supplied by the Web server, handles HTML sanitization using toStaticHTML, handles objects in memory, and handles script during certain processes.

This security update resolves 11 privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited any of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the local user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 6 on Windows clients, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, and Internet Explorer 9; and Moderate for Internet Explorer 6 on Windows servers.

Display Tabs below the One Box in IE9 -

One Box is the place where we input the URL of site to open it or start a search, next to its right listed are the Tabs. To get Tabs below the One Box, Just right-click to the right of the new tab button and select “Show tabs on a separate row” option.

The Tabs will instantly appear below the address bar or one box. You can revert back to the previous setting anytime by unchecking the above option.

However, if you don’t want the IE9 RTW build to get automatically installed, then “IE9 Automatic Update Blocker Toolkit” by Microsoft will help you out.

To help prevent users from installing IE9 RTW through Automatic Update, we are providing the IE9 AU Blocker Toolkit which, when deployed, prevents IE9 RTW offered as an important update via AU. This Toolkit has no expiration date and can be configured either by running the registry file on the client machines or via Group Policy in domain joined environments. The Toolkit also provides an unblock procedure which can revert the block. We believe this approach strikes a good balance by helping customers become more secure and letting organizations control when they are ready to deploy IE9 to their users.

The IE9 Blocker Toolkit has no impact on the IE9 RC AU deployment to IE9 Beta customers and, further, will not block the final version of IE9 offered to users who already have pre-released versions of IE9 installed on their machine. This is to ensure that we provide the latest security fixes to users running older pre-release versions of IE9.
