USB Safeguard is a free, smart and effective tool to encrypt and protect data with a
password on your removable pen drive using the AES 256 bits encryption. It is a portable program offering novice and expert users the ability to easily password protect the pen drive, thus to protect the valuable data stored on flash drive and prevent data theft. It sets a password for the entire pendrive and not just for a certain file or folder. Once the drive is locked, one cannot read nor write any data to it without the correct password. Supports FAT16, FAT32 & NTFS file system, requires no installation.

How to Password Protect a Pen Drive – Download USB Safeguard, then copy the file "usbsafeguard.exe" to the root of your pen drive and run it. Agree to the software license agreement, Set your password and press Lock button to lock the pen drive. To unlock, launch the program from pen drive. Input the password and hit Unlock to access the entire data stored on the drive. You can click on help icon (?) to set your contact details (email or phone) in case you loose the pen drive.

Note: The free version works only with USB Flash drive of size max 2 GB. This seems fine as the tool is really very nifty and useful.

Recently, they added the option to Download Photos in full resolution and Google has now added another nice and much requested feature. Google+ now provides the ability to “Disable comments and Lock a post” before sharing to the Google+ stream. Though, both the options were available earlier too but it was only possible after making a post. Now you can make use of these option before you share, and after too.

The ‘Disable Comments’ prevents everyone from making a comment on a specific post and the ‘Lock this post’ restricts everyone from re-sharing your post with others.

When you disable comments on a post, other people will no longer be able to leave comments (but they can still +1 and reshare it).

When you lock a post, people you’ve shared your post with will no long be able to reshare it with others or mention people you haven’t shared it with.

To implement these options before posting an entry to Google+ stream, just tap the grey down arrow button as shown in above image. Then choose the preferred options.

But it is a time consuming task if you have to lock many files/folders. So, I’ve found a nice program which performs this task differently and easily too.

Secret Disk

Secret Disk lets you create a separate disk on your PC which can be locked and unlocked with a password within one second! Moreover, when locked the disk is invisible in the Windows system.

To use it, just install Secret Disk and choose a password. Then, start Secret Disk, Press unlock button, enter your password. Now you will see one more disk X: in My Computer. You can now store your private files to secret disk X.

To lock secret disk, click its icon in system tray area and it will disappear with all contents. When you want your files back, open Secret Disk tool, press Unlock button and enter your password. It also has some handy customization options.
