Yesterday, Microsoft announced the availability of Windows 8 Consumer Preview aka Windows 8 Beta. The beta is available publicly to everyone and can be downloaded free at http://preview.windows.com. This latest new version of the re-imagined Windows introduces new features and several free apps to try, available at Windows Store. MS has also made available ‘Windows 8 Consumer Preview Product Guide’ for Business and Developers to get more in-depth and detailed info on this release.

A while back, we shared some nifty utilities to Remove PDF Security Restrictions, Password Protect PDF and Remove Password from PDF Files. Another similar free app, PDF Password Remover is recently launched for Windows that aims to quickly wipe out all the restrictions of a PDF file, without requiring the owner password. Thus, to let users decrypt the PDF and remove the printing, copying text and editing protection.

PDF Password Remover is a freeware tool to remove PDF restriction from protected PDF files. It is very easy to use, offers drag and drop functionality and it even supports batch conversion to decrypt multiple PDFs at once. One can easily remove the owner password from any PDF document just by dragging the file(s), the tool will then instantly and automatically export the un-protected file to the output directory, and the output folder opens up itself in the explorer. You can also specify the desired output path.

PDF Password Remover

This is one of the simplest and fastest application to remove restrictions from PDF(s). Moreover, a portable version of it is also available. However, it should be noted that PDF Password Remover cannot remove the user password, i.e. you cant remove the PDF password and restriction if there is a user password set.

What most Samsung Galaxy Nexus users are looking for is now available, i.e. the official user guide for Galaxy Nexus, an amazing new smartphone running the latest version of Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. The Galaxy Nexus box literally includes a small quick start guide that’s quite not sufficient to get started with a feature packed phone unless you are an Android lover or a typical geek.

There are instances when you receive password-protected PDFs for documents such as bank account statements, legal forms, etc. which have a user password set to prevent anyone else from accessing the file. Though, one can easily open the locked PDF file if he/she knows its password but it gets quite uneasy to enter the password each time you need to open the PDF. There is a simple tool to get rid of this annoyance.

BeCyPDFMetaEdit is a free and handy utility for Windows that lets you easily remove the password from PDF files without changing anything else. It also offers several other features, like you can add a password to your PDF files thus to protect and prevent them from unauthorized access. There are options to edit the Metadata of PDF file, set viewer preferences (page layout, page mode), bookmarks, security and more.

To Remove Password from a PDF, follow the steps below:

Note: To remove the PDF password, you must know the user password.

1. Launch the program and it will let you browse the location of PDF file.

2. Before selecting the file, select the “Complete Rewrite” option from the Open window.

3. Then open the file and tap on Security tab. Set “Security System” to ‘no encryption’ and click on Save button.

Voila! You PDF will no more require a password to open.

To Password-Protect a PDF, move to the Security tab and select “Security System” as ‘Password protection with low or high encryption’.

Some points to consider:

1. If you set only the User Password, then a valid password is required to open the file.

2. If you set only the Owner Password, then everyone would be able to open and view the PDF file but they wont be able to Edit it, if you’ve set some security restrictions. Using this you can restrict a PDF from editing, selecting text, printing and changing PDF properties such as form fields, etc. by un-checking their entries.

3. If you’ve set Both the user and owner password for a PDF – In this case, entering the user password will let you only view the password-protected PDF. But if you open the same file with owner password then you can edit it as well.

Google Chrome has certainly became widely popular in a short span and is giving a stiff competition to other Internet browsers just because of its minimal design, faster and safer browsing experience, and comes loaded with a variety of innovative features.chrome_logo

Chrome has the functionality to display PDFs integrated into webpages using the built-in PDF reader plugin. But some of you might not be aware that Google Chrome also offers the ability to open and view any PDF documents, residing in your local directory or computer. You no more need to use dedicated softwares like Adobe PDF Reader, Foxit Reader, etc. just to view the PDF files because Chrome does this job very well.

With Chrome one can read PDF documents without any distraction as there is no extra sidebar or menu bar to customize the PDF. However, there are options to view PDF in full-size, Zoom In and Out, Save or Print PDF. Luckily, the options panel shows up only when you hover the cursor at the bottom right corner of the webpage. Moreover, you can also view Password-protected PDFs with Chrome. Just try it out! You might then want to set Google Chrome as default PDF viewer to open your PDF files.

To make Chrome the default PDF reader, right-click on any PDF file and select ‘Open with’. Choose Google Chrome as the default program and hit Ok. (Browse to the directory C:\Users\Mayur\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application and select Chrome.exe). Listed location is for Windows 7, directory may differ in Windows XP.

How to Remove PDF Security Restrictions or Unlock PDF Restrictions -

Recently, I downloaded my quarterly bank account statement and needed to do some editing before printing the PDF but that wasn’t possible. That’s because some important PDF documents and legal forms have security enabled by default which are set by the owner, thus to restrict everyone from making any changes to the PDF file. In such case, you cant select or copy any text, remove unwanted text and images prior to printing, etc. depending on the security restriction applied to a certain PDF by its owner.

Certainly, you cannot Remove PDF Restrictions if a PDF is secured and security settings cannot be changed unless you provide the correct password. However, it can be easily done but there are barely any free tools to accomplish this task. Fortunately, there is one simple and easy-to-use tool to Remove PDF security, which is absolutely FREE.

PDF Password Remover tool for Windows, is a 100% Free tool that lets you decrypt password protected PDF files which have their "owner" password set.
