Instagram, the popular photo sharing service offers a remarkable functionality and is widely popular among iOS and Android users. Instagram was recently acquired by Facebook leaving the end users skeptic about its future, most of whom are now looking for ways to backup their precious and beautiful photos offline on their computer. Neither Instagram has a web version nor it offers a way to download the album photos or save filtered photos to SD card. Fortunately, there are some great online services that overcome this problem by offering the ability to export, download your photos easily.

Instaport is one free and smart web service that provides a simple way to export or backup all your Instagram photos to your local hard drive. Unlike some other services, it lets you download all photos by packing them in a single archive which one can later upload or share with anyone. It also offers some ‘Advanced Options’ for those not interested in downloading entire pictures. This way you can export a collection of recently taken photos, photos took between a particular time interval, and photos tagged with a specific tag. The option of porting to Facebook, Flickr, RSS isn’t possible at the moment and is said to be added soon.

To Backup your Instagram Photos using Instaport, simply visit instaport.me, login with your Instagram username and password. Then authorize the app to grant access to your photos, friend lists, and profile data. Now select the download .zip file option or any other advanced option, and click Start Export. After export is complete, download the zip archive and extract it using an archive program like WinRAR. That’s it!

Facebook has introduced a significant update for their photo viewer which enhances and improves the photos experience. Just like Google Plus, Facebook has now added the functionality to upload pictures in high resolution which can be up to 4X bigger than before. The biggest social networking site also lets you view the photos in entire full screen mode in the highest resolution available. Google+ currently lacks the latter feature as one needs to download the photo to view it in high-resolution. This is certainly a great update that aims to offer a real taste of all those quality and professional stills shared on Facebook every day in millions!

According to Facebook, “the photo viewer will now automatically display photos in the highest resolution possible.” You can expand the photo viewer to take up your entire computer screen. To do so, simply view a photo and click the arrow shown at the top-right corner of a photo to expand it to fullscreen. You can download the photo, post a comment, like or share it directly from the fullscreen mode. However, it still misses the handy ‘Slideshow’ feature, useful for auto viewing photo albums with ease.

Google actively introduces new features to Google Plus and the recent addition by them is a useful and top requested one. Google Plus has finally added the ability to reorder your photos and move them between albums, directly from within Google+. This was even possible earlier using Picasa Web but that wasn’t the most convenient and simple way. The integration of an album organizer will let users easily organize their photo albums from the ‘Photos’ section in G+. This way you can rearrange the pictures in a proper desired sequence and can also move or copy photos to another album!

To get started, open an album and select ‘Organize album’ from the Options menu.

With the album organizer you can:

Sort photos by time: Click Order by date to sort all photos in the album by the photo date, from earliest to latest. Click it again to sort them from latest to earliest.

Reorder your photos: Select the photos you want to reorder and drag them to their new position in the album. You can also move selected photos to the start or end of the album by clicking Move to top or Move to bottom.

Move or copy photos to another album: Clicking Move lets you move or copy selected photos to one of your other albums or to a new album.

Delete a bunch of photos: Click Delete to delete the selected photos.

Afterwards, click Done organizing to save the changes.

This is indeed a nifty feature considering Photos play a significant role on Google+.

Just yesterday, we bought a brand new GSM version of Galaxy Nexus which is currently the best Android smartphone manufactured by Samsung in co-operation with Google. This amazing feature packed phone is a successor to Google’s previous flagship phones, the Nexus One and Nexus S. It combines the most advanced software from Google and cutting edge hardware from Samsung. So, let’s have a look at the hands-on photos below!

Galaxy NEXUS (GT-I9250) Unboxing Photos -

The Galaxy Nexus is huge! The box measuring 8-inch long itself could scare you out for a moment. FYI, the phone runs on Android 4.0.1 and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor, boasts a large 4.65” 1280×720 HD Super AMOLED Contour display (curved glass) which looks stunning, 1GB RAM, NFC, Face Unlock, and a lot more.

Accessories include: a micro USB cable, 1750mAH battery, Samsung branded In-Ear stereo headphones with 3.5mm jack and Samsung USB wall charger.

This is a 16GB variant of Galaxy Nexus, the device doesn’t offers expandable storage.

The Galaxy Nexus is amazingly thin and lightweight considering it’s a really big device. Surprisingly, there aren’t any capacitive or physical buttons present to control the device but 3 virtual buttons integrated within its user interface. That’s innovative!

Dimensions - 135.5 mm (5.33 in) Height, 67.94 mm (2.675 in) Width and 8.94 mm (0.352 in) Depth. It weighs 135 g (4.8 oz). (Size may vary for the LTE version)

Color – Titanium Silver

On right hand side, there is a power/standby key and 3 gold dock pins. The left side sports a volume rocker, the top portion is empty and at the bottom side there is a micro USB port, microphone and a 3.5mm audio jack.

GALAXY Nexus features a redesigned camera – 5.0 MP rear facing camera with LED Flash and 1.3 MP front facing camera, which introduces zero-shutter lag, 1080p HD video recording, Single-Motion Panoramic mode, and effects like silly faces and background replacement. The semi-glossy textured back cover provides a good grip to hold on.

3 color Notification LED – Not sure in what circumstances it glows up, Cool though.

The camera shutter click sound integrated by default on Android is the most annoying and loud sound produced when taking a picture. Unfortunately, there is no way to mute the creepy camera sound on an unrooted Android device unless you switch it to silent mode, literally to take some photos. However, if you’ve a Rooted device or are using Cyanogen Mod (CM) custom ROM on your Android phone, then you can completely disable the camera click easily and take shots silently without disturbing your mates.

This is a pretty simple method that just requires rooting and not any complex tasks. It should work on most Android phones (rooted) and those running CM7. We’ve tried it on LG Optimus One with void #forever custom ROM installed and it worked perfectly.

Steps to Turn Off/Mute CyanogenMod Camera Sound on Android Phone -

1. Install ES File Explorer on your phone.

2. Run ES File Explorer, go to its Settings > Home Directory. Change the default value (/sdcard/) to (/).

3. Then navigate to bottom of settings and enable ‘Root Explorer’ option. Click Yes when the Experimental Feature box pops-up to grant it super user permissions. Also, tick mark the ‘Mount File System’ check box to mount the system as writable.

4. Next, open the Local directory in ES File Explorer. Navigate to:

"/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"

5. Tap on the camera_click.ogg file and rename it to camera_click.mp3.

That’s it. Open the camera and take a snap. Voila! No more shutter sound.

Tip: If you’re using CM 7.1.0, then you can now quickly disable camera shutter sound from settings: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Sound > Mute camera shutter.
