The camera shutter click sound integrated by default on Android is the most annoying and loud sound produced when taking a picture. Unfortunately, there is no way to mute the creepy camera sound on an unrooted Android device unless you switch it to silent mode, literally to take some photos. However, if you’ve a Rooted device or are using Cyanogen Mod (CM) custom ROM on your Android phone, then you can completely disable the camera click easily and take shots silently without disturbing your mates.

This is a pretty simple method that just requires rooting and not any complex tasks. It should work on most Android phones (rooted) and those running CM7. We’ve tried it on LG Optimus One with void #forever custom ROM installed and it worked perfectly.

Steps to Turn Off/Mute CyanogenMod Camera Sound on Android Phone -

1. Install ES File Explorer on your phone.

2. Run ES File Explorer, go to its Settings > Home Directory. Change the default value (/sdcard/) to (/).

3. Then navigate to bottom of settings and enable ‘Root Explorer’ option. Click Yes when the Experimental Feature box pops-up to grant it super user permissions. Also, tick mark the ‘Mount File System’ check box to mount the system as writable.

4. Next, open the Local directory in ES File Explorer. Navigate to:

"/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"

5. Tap on the camera_click.ogg file and rename it to camera_click.mp3.

That’s it. Open the camera and take a snap. Voila! No more shutter sound.

Tip: If you’re using CM 7.1.0, then you can now quickly disable camera shutter sound from settings: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Sound > Mute camera shutter.

The service looks up for equal or similar images over the web by letting users submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified or un-watermarked versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye uses image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks to perform this amazing task.

To use TinEye, one needs to upload an image or enter image address using their web interface to look for similar images. Luckily, we found a handy TinEye Client for Windows that adds TinEye to the context menu of image files and makes the task more easier.

TinEye Client is an unofficial extension for Windows that allows you to look for similar images on TinEye directly from the Windows Explorer context menu. It is a simple and elegant tool, you can use TinEye client app to choose an image file from a folder or paste an image copied to clipboard. It supports shell-integration, means you can just right-click an image on computer that automatically uploads to TinEye and shows the relevant results in browser. There is 1-click option to enable/disable TinEye option in context menu. The tool also lets you set the default sort order for resulting images.

Lots of people have got their hands-on the recently launched iPhone 4S and the techie ones have started comparing it with the original iPhone 4. The exterior of iPhone 4S is apparently similar to iPhone 4 but its interior components do differ. The new iPhone 4S carries a powerful A5 dual-core processor, faster graphics, Siri voice assistant and most importantly a 8 megapixel camera with support for 1080p HD video recording at 30fps.

The new camera with a larger f/2.4 aperture lets in more light, so photos look brighter. And the advanced hybrid infrared filter keeps out harmful IR light for more accurate and uniform colors. Moreover, it features video stabilization that steadies shaky shots.

Now, if you already have an iPhone 4 and are thinking to get an iPhone 4S just for the sake of better 8MP camera, then make sure to check the below comparison between camera photos taken using the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. This might be a crucial factor in deciding whether it’s feasible to buy iPhone 4S considering just its improved camera.

Apple is set to unveil the new iPhone soon on October 4th at their headquarters in California. Still the rumours and mockups of iPhone 5 can be seen all over the web. The folks over at Giga.de have designed a real prototype of iPhone 5 based on most of the rumours and the device actually appears pretty legit. Let’s see what’s packed inside?

The iPhone 5 mock-up is created from a solid block of aluminium and Photoshop isn’t used to design it. According to them, iPhone 5 would have a teardrop design, boasting a 4-inch display. It is only 59.94 mm wider than iPhone 4, with a height of 109.98 mm and is just 6.86 mm thinner at the top and 5.33 mm at the bottom. This iPhone 5 mockup features an oval shape light touch home button. They’ve also compared iPhone 5 prototype with the iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S II.

Google+ has got various amazing features in a shot span of time and that’s one thing I like the most about it. Recently, Google+ introduced the Share option which allows users to share a particular photo directly from the lightbox viewer to specific circles or people. Dave Cohen just announced about a new addition to Google Plus that lets you download full size photos from Google+.

Though one can easily save the picture shown in the lightbox by dragging it to desktop or using the Save image as.. option. But that would only download the small-sized picture as shown in the photo viewer. Using the new “Download photo” option, the picture will be downloaded in the highest possible resolution available with great quality. However, you may not see the download option for every photo. This happens if the uploader has disabled it to prevent everyone from getting the full resolution image.

How to use – When viewing a photo in the lightbox photo viewer, click Actions. If the photo owner has allowed downloads, you will see an option to Download Photo.

If you don’t want viewers to download your photos, click the gear icon at the top right corner of G+ screen, to open Google+ Settings (https://plus.google.com/settings/plus). Scroll down the page and uncheck the ‘Allow viewers to download my photos’ checkbox.

Recently, I got a new Samsung NC108 netbook and therefore thought to share a brief description of it along with some hands-on pictures. One thing I’d say is that netbooks are highly portable, light weight, have a great battery life and are true value for money. I’m not reviewing Samsung NC108 in detail because it’s pretty similar to Samsung N148. However, it is a new redesigned model with some improvements in specs and features.

The Samsung NC108 is crafted to deliver a stylish look, sturdy and high-quality design, despite being budget-friendly. It is ultra compact in size, weighs just 1.18Kg (less than N148) and is powered by the upgraded Intel N455 Atom processor.

It boasts a 10.1” anti-reflective display, now enjoy movies and images that are clear and picture perfect, even in bright light. Its energy efficient LED display and 6 cell battery may offer an extensive battery life of up to 10.7 hours*.

The keyboard has an ergonomic design with a slight texture, plus it is a Full Island keyboard with optimised key spacing for easier typing that looks awesome.

The I/O ports on the left and right side carries a precision cut edge design that stands apart from others. It is cleverly styled with an integrated hinge. That means the screen blends together seamlessly with the keyboard, which makes adjusting the screen easier.

A quality webcam is integrated, that is ideal for video conferencing and video calls.

Evernote has acquired the interesting Mac app ‘Skitch’ and apart from making the app absolutely Free for Mac, evernote has also launched Free Skitch app for Android. Skitch for Android is a fun, amazing and a great app that allows users to take snapshots, annotate images, make sketches, and share them easily directly from their mobile.

Skitch is a perfect app to easily and quickly take a snapshot of something or open a saved image to add some cool and meaningful stuff to it. The app has a very simple and nice user interface with a variety of essential features and settings to customize the photo as desired without requiring any technical knowledge. This is just the first version of Skitch for Android which would be improved and enhanced later in future.

Skitch home screen offers 3 options: take a snapshot, load an image from your gallery or start with a blank canvas. Take a snapshot, then draw an arrow or add a caption and share it instantly on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. There are two rows of options in the app namely: the action bar and the tool bar.

The Action Bar includes:

Home: This returns you to the home screen.

Trash: Either erase a selected object or clear the whole screen by tapping and holding the option.

Undo/Redo: Step back or forward through your annotations.

Share: Share the annotated image with other apps installed on your device.

Send to Evernote: This option shows up when you have Evernote installed.

The Tool Bar includes:

Color and size popover: Tap this option to choose the color and line thickness of your objects.

Pencil and highlighter: The pencil allows you to create freehand shapes with your finger or stylus. Tap and hold to reveal the highlighter tool which creates semi-transparent lines for highlighting.

Arrow: Point out the best stuff with the arrows Skitch is known for.

Select: Tap on any object, then drag it to change its position.

Type: Use this tool to add text to your images.

Shape: Tap and hold to choose a shape, then drag your finger on the screen to create it.

Tap the menu button and select ‘Settings’ to access some advanced settings, including highlighter opacity and scaling.

Evernote is working to bring Skitch to iPhone, iPad and other major platforms.
