Just like any other browser, Mozilla Firefox stores all the significant stuff on your computer that is required for its functioning. Few months back, Gmail introduced several new inbox styles with the purpose to let users manage their email in the best preferred way. The new inbox style tab has now been turned on for almost everyone, and is also available on the new Gmail look. This new style adds 5 different Inbox tabs at the top of your inbox. Indicated as – “Try on a new inbox: Classic, Important first, Unread first, Starred first, Priority Inbox”.

If you’ve already saw this new inbox style then you must have noticed that the ‘Inbox-style tabs toolbar’ disappears from your Gmail interface after a while. Well that’s not a magic but smarty Gmail that removes those tabs bar, after watching you settled on a particular favorite style for about a week. However, one can easily change the inbox style from the drop-down menu next to the Inbox label or from Settings (Inbox).

Fortunately, there is a way to easily restore the Inbox tabs toolbar in Gmail if it has vanished automatically or you closed it using the cross(x) button. To get it back, just hover your cursor over the Inbox tab in left sidebar and click on the drop down menu. Then point at Inbox Type and click the ‘Try the tabs again’ option. That’s it.

Note: Apparently, Gmail has one stupid limitation which prevents you from getting the inbox-style tab bar again. What happens is, if you close the tabs bar twice then Gmail assumes that you don’t need it. Hence, on closing the inbox tabs bar for second time, the Try the tabs again option wont appear anymore and you cant get it.

Recently, Twitter made some changes to its email notifications, which by default now sends email to notify you when someone sends you a reply or mentions you in a tweet. Users also receive an email if someone retweets or favorites one of their Tweets. This is a good measure to keep users updated as most don’t know who retweeted their tweets. However, if you’re a power twitter user who gets several replies/mentions in a day then you many find the incoming emails pretty annoying and they’ll clutter up your inbox.

You can easily overcome this by changing your email preferences in the notifications section of twitter settings page. To Turnoff or Block emails for replies and @mentions from twitter, just go to Settings > Notifications. Uncheck the option “I’m sent a reply or mentioned” and any other you desire to disable. Click the Save button, that’s it!

You will not necessarily receive an email for every retweet, reply, or favorite; for now we will only email you when we think it is most relevant. Note that every email contains a link to unsubscribe from that particular type of notification.

Disable Audio/Sound in Gmail Chat – Sometimes you may not want to disclose that you’re chatting online or Assume you’re listening some really good music and at the same time chatting with your friends on Google Gmail. You might get pretty irritated after hearing those ping sounds frequently which spoils all the music flavour.

However, there is a very simple way to get rid of this annoyance. Gmail offers an inbuilt feature which allows users to disable audio while chatting. Doing this will stop all the sound when you receive any chat messages. You can revert back anytime later.

Turning off the Gmail Chat audio – Go to Gmail, open ‘Options’ by clicking on the small tools icon located at the top right corner. Click on Mail Settings > open the Chat tab, select the ‘Sounds off’ radio button for Sounds. Now click on Save Changes.

If you are experiencing problems with your Sony LCD TV or your kid has riddled all its settings by playing with the remote control. Then it is advisable to reset your Sony Bravia TV to its factory aka default settings.

To Reset Sony Bravia LCD TV, carefully follow the below steps:

1. Turn on your television and press the ‘Menu’ button on remote.

2. As Menu opens, select and open the ‘Settings’ option.

3. As ‘Picture’ menu opens, press the down arrow to select and open the ‘Set-up’ option.

4. Select and open Factory Settings option from the Set-up menu.

5. Factory Settings menu will appear. Select OK option and open it.

A confirmation box will open, select OK option to reset all settings.

This will restore the LCD TV to original factory settings. After restoration, you will be asked to do an Initial Setup for the TV. Select your preferred language and location.

Have you switched to Ubuntu 9.10 from Windows, and want to move or transfer Google Chrome browser profile and settings like History, Bookmarks, Passwords, Cookies, Cache to your Ubuntu OS?

Follow the tutorial below to do this task easily:

1. Open Windows and navigate to C:\Users\Mayur\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data (Replace Mayur with you username). Make sure ‘Show hidden files & folders’ option is enabled in Folder options.

2. Copy the ‘Default’ folder and save it somewhere on Pen drive. If you’ve dual booted Windows & Ubuntu, then there is no need to save this folder as you can browse it from within Ubuntu.

3. Log in to Ubuntu.

4. Download and Install Google Chrome first, if you haven’t.

5. Navigate to Places > Home Folder (user) > .config > google-chrome

6. Replace the ‘Default’ folder there with the Windows one, that you found in Step 2. (You can also first delete this folder (in Ubuntu) and then paste the one from Windows).

Open Chrome now and you’ll see all your old browser data and settings intact. Enjoy

Note: Chrome Extensions may not work, you’ll need to uninstall them and then reinstall.Related Posts:
