This feature may be pretty annoying, when you have mass number of tabs opened, and get a separate preview for each individual tabs running in chrome.

Here is an easy way to Turn off Chrome tab previews in Windows 7 taskbar -

1. Navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\

2. Right click on "chrome.exe", select Properties > Compatibility, and select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop down menu. Click Apply > OK.

Alternatively, you can right-click the chrome icon (on desktop) to do this task easily.

The ability to display previews for each tab in Chrome will now be disabled, as it wasn’t present in Vista. :D This is only a temporary workaround, chrome team is working on a better solution. Also See:

This feature is although useful but can be annoying, if you have lot many tabs opened in Opera. Below is an easy way to disable it.

Turn off Opera tab previews shown in Windows 7 taskbar:

Open Opera, type opera:config in address bar and open it. Navigate to User Prefs > expand it and search for ‘Use Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnails’. Uncheck its box and Save.

You may need to restart Opera for letting changes to take effect. Now you will see only a single preview of the active tab running in Opera.

To disable IE tab previews in taskbar, just open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options. Open settings for ‘Tabs’ and uncheck the box saying ‘Show previews for individual tabs in the taskbar’. Click Ok and restart IE for letting changes to take effect.

This tip is basically for Windows 7 and Vista users who have opted to show icons only, in order to speed up browsing inside explorer.

To Disable Thumbnail Previews (Show Icons only) in Windows 7 or Vista, open Folder Options > View tab. Now check the first option saying ‘Always show icons, never thumbnails’. Click OK

Adding the Enable/Disable Thumbnails option to right-click menu -

1. Download togglethumbs.zip and save it.

2. Unzip the archive and extract the contents to a folder.

3. Move the file togglethumbs.vbs to the C:\Windows directory.

4. Then Double-click togglethumbs.reg to merge the contents to the registry. Click Yes on the confirmation dialog boxes.

The ‘Enable/Disable Thumbnails’ has now been added to the right click context menu. Click it to enable or disable thumbnail previews in 1-click :D
