Credit Card or CC is an essential and prominent financial product these days, usually owned by a majority of users to buy goods and services. If you’re a Credit Card or Debit Card holder, then you must have noticed the 16-digit numeric code inscribed on the card. But as most of you might wonder, those 16 numbers aren’t given randomly but serves an important purpose. According to an amazing algorithm by Mint.com, one can simply crack the credit card code and determine if the card number is invalid or fake. Sounds weird? Just try it on your CC and make sure to do the math right!

We tried this trick on a valid Credit Card and a Debit Card as well (both Visa), and surprisingly the result turned out true as the final sum was divisible by 10. Do try this out and remember to follow the described steps carefully. :)

Unfortunately, there is no way to mute the creepy camera sound on an unrooted Android device unless you switch it to silent mode, literally to take some photos. However, if you’ve a Rooted device or are using Cyanogen Mod (CM) custom ROM on your Android phone, then you can completely disable the camera click easily and take shots silently without disturbing your mates.

This is a pretty simple method that just requires rooting and not any complex tasks. It should work on most Android phones (rooted) and those running CM7. We’ve tried it on LG Optimus One with void #forever custom ROM installed and it worked perfectly.

Steps to Turn Off/Mute CyanogenMod Camera Sound on Android Phone -

1. Install ES File Explorer on your phone.

2. Run ES File Explorer, go to its Settings > Home Directory. Change the default value (/sdcard/) to (/).

3. Then navigate to bottom of settings and enable ‘Root Explorer’ option. Click Yes when the Experimental Feature box pops-up to grant it super user permissions. Also, tick mark the ‘Mount File System’ check box to mount the system as writable.

4. Next, open the Local directory in ES File Explorer. Navigate to:

"/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"

5. Tap on the camera_click.ogg file and rename it to camera_click.mp3.

That’s it. Open the camera and take a snap. Voila! No more shutter sound. :)

Tip: If you’re using CM 7.1.0, then you can now quickly disable camera shutter sound from settings: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Sound > Mute camera shutter.

3. Tap on ‘Embed this Tweet’ and a pop-up will appear. Choose the preferred alignment, copy the HTML code and paste it to the HTML section of your site or blog post.

It’s even more easier to embed Tweets on WordPress or Posterous Spaces.

WordPress bloggers can embed Tweets directly into their posts by simply copying the Tweet URL or using a familiar shortcode. Once published, WordPress instantly turns that URL or shortcode into an embedded Tweet.

Fortunately, a Google+ user ‘Maximilian Majewski’ has discovered a 100% working hack to enable the new Google bar right now. The hack can easily be applied on Google Chrome browser to edit a certain value and thus access the awesome new Google menu bar. Switching to the New Google bar is real easy, just follow the steps below:

1. Install the ‘Edit This Cookie’ extension to change cookies on Chrome.

2. Load Google.com, right-click on webpage and select ‘Edit cookies’.

3. Move to the "PREF" section and change its value to this: (exact code)

Apparently, Galaxy Nexus is the first device pre-loaded with Android 4.0 to offer a pure Google experience. ICS is going to be officially available for several other high-end Android smartphones but that wouldn’t happen anytime soon. The Android 4.0 platform is available as a downloadable component on the Android SDK, allowing developers to create and test their applications on Android 4.0 with the Android emulator. Interested users can also test drive and experience the awesome interface and features of ICS, simply by installing the official Android 4.0 emulator on their computer.

Steps to Install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Emulator on Windows –

1. Download the Android SDK. (choose the .zip file for Windows)

2. Extract the contents of Zip file to a folder on your desktop.

3. Run ‘SDK Manager.exe’ from the folder. Tick mark the package ‘Android 4.0 (API 14)’ and click on ‘Install Packages’.

Wait until all the package components are downloaded. (Requires Internet and may take quite long depending on your connection speed.) A new window will appear, just choose Accept and click Install.

4. Upon installation of all the packages, a window will pop-up asking to restart ADB. Just click Yes.

5. Now run ‘AVD Manager.exe’ from the directory mentioned in step 2. Click on ‘New’ to create a new AVD. Give AVD a name, select target as Android 4.0, select a desired skin and Create AVD. (We chose HVGA, device RAM size can be specified too.)

Note: The emulator consumes high CPU resources, so set higher parameters only if you’ve a powerful system.

6. Select your AVD from the AVD Manager and click on Start. Then Launch it.

That’s it. Android 4.0 emulator will now boot up and present the ICS home screen. :)

The emulator can be controlled using both mouse and keyboard. It might act a bit sluggish as it’s a memory intensive program. ICS emulator has a set of virtual buttons and keyboard to operate it like a phone. Explore the various functions, settings and menus of ICS via this emulator to quickly taste most of the cool stuff!
