We stumbled upon an interesting infographic and couldn’t stop us from sharing it with our readers. Credit Card or CC is an essential and prominent financial product these days, usually owned by a majority of users to buy goods and services. If you’re a Credit Card or Debit Card holder, then you must have noticed the 16-digit numeric code inscribed on the card. But as most of you might wonder, those 16 numbers aren’t given randomly but serves an important purpose. According to an amazing algorithm by Mint.com, one can simply crack the credit card code and determine if the card number is invalid or fake. Sounds weird? Just try it on your CC and make sure to do the math right!

How to Validate a Credit Card with your Mind -

We tried this trick on a valid Credit Card and a Debit Card as well (both Visa), and surprisingly the result turned out true as the final sum was divisible by 10. Do try this out and remember to follow the described steps carefully.

The camera shutter click sound integrated by default on Android is the most annoying and loud sound produced when taking a picture. Unfortunately, there is no way to mute the creepy camera sound on an unrooted Android device unless you switch it to silent mode, literally to take some photos. However, if you’ve a Rooted device or are using Cyanogen Mod (CM) custom ROM on your Android phone, then you can completely disable the camera click easily and take shots silently without disturbing your mates.

This is a pretty simple method that just requires rooting and not any complex tasks. It should work on most Android phones (rooted) and those running CM7. We’ve tried it on LG Optimus One with void #forever custom ROM installed and it worked perfectly.

Steps to Turn Off/Mute CyanogenMod Camera Sound on Android Phone -

1. Install ES File Explorer on your phone.

2. Run ES File Explorer, go to its Settings > Home Directory. Change the default value (/sdcard/) to (/).

3. Then navigate to bottom of settings and enable ‘Root Explorer’ option. Click Yes when the Experimental Feature box pops-up to grant it super user permissions. Also, tick mark the ‘Mount File System’ check box to mount the system as writable.

4. Next, open the Local directory in ES File Explorer. Navigate to:

"/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"

5. Tap on the camera_click.ogg file and rename it to camera_click.mp3.

That’s it. Open the camera and take a snap. Voila! No more shutter sound.

Tip: If you’re using CM 7.1.0, then you can now quickly disable camera shutter sound from settings: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Sound > Mute camera shutter.

Twitter just rolled out a whole lot of redesign updates by introducing a major design overhaul to its web interface and Twitter mobile app for iOS and Android. The entirely new interface makes it more faster and simpler to connect with your friends, followers, discover latest stories, suggestions on who to follow and see trending topics, etc. The Tweetdeck web version has also got a whole new design, along with native Tweetdeck application for Windows and Mac that doesn’t requires Adobe Air anymore. Besides this, Twitter share and follow buttons have also got a slight color gradient update.

The latest twitter update makes it easier for everyone to view and interact with tweets on the web in the same ways as you do from any twitter client. Twitter has now added the functionality to embed tweets or any conversation to a site or blog in a few clicks without needing any extra skills. You just need to copy and paste a few lines of code.

Preview of an embedded tweet -

Hope Instagram for Android doesn’t rolls out just now. I’m unable to cope all these updates.

— Mayur Agarwal (@mayurjango) December8, 2011

Embeddable tweets lets the users catch up the shared tweets directly without leaving your site. Visitors can follow the author with a single-click, reply, retweet, or favorite the Tweet instantly from the page itself. You can try it now in the newly launched Twitter. Steps to simply embed a tweet to a website:

1. Visit your or anyone else twitter profile. Then tap on the desired tweet or click Open to see the Details option.

2. Click on ‘Details’, so the permalink page of that particular tweet opens up.

3. Tap on ‘Embed this Tweet’ and a pop-up will appear. Choose the preferred alignment, copy the HTML code and paste it to the HTML section of your site or blog post.

It’s even more easier to embed Tweets on WordPress or Posterous Spaces.

WordPress bloggers can embed Tweets directly into their posts by simply copying the Tweet URL or using a familiar shortcode. Once published, WordPress instantly turns that URL or shortcode into an embedded Tweet.

Posterous Spaces has also enabled embedded Tweets. People can easily add Tweets using their existing workflows: Posterous’ browser bookmarklet, email, the Posterous Web Editor, or their iPhone or Android Apps. For more information, read Posterous Spaces’ announcement on their blog.

Are you an Airtel Broadband customer looking to check your Internet usage? Then here’s a really simple way to quickly find the Airtel broadband data usage for your account. Smartbytes, a service recently introduced by Airtel allows broadband users to buy additional data packages to Retain High Speed Bandwidth after crossing FUP limit and acts as your internet usage manager as well.

To view Airtel Internet data usage, visit www.airtel.in/smartbyte-s/page.html from your Airtel broadband connection. The webpage will instantly show the internet usage details of your account for the current bill cycle without requiring any type of registration or login. The page lists your DSL ID (phone no.), allocated high speed data transfer limit as per your plan, remaining high-speed data transfer quota (non-FUP), and days left in your current billing cycle (calculated month wise). Implement some simple maths to know the data consumed by deducting GBs left from the high speed limit.

Using the same webpage, you can also opt for airtel smartbytes deals by purchasing additional high speed quota, in case your high speed data limit is over and you don’t desire to continue browsing on low-bandwidth (i.e. 256kbps speed). This is certainly a nice move by Airtel to let users check their broadband usage in just a single click!

Note: You can even check data usage of other Airtel users if you’ve access to their network. This is something that Airtel needs to fix by adding some sort of protection.

Over the last few days, you must have came across all the fuss about Carrier IQ, a certain piece of software claimed to be factory installed on various smartphones, to access all the private and sensitive user data that is transferred through the phone to carrier without users consent and knowledge. This is pretty concerning for most users as this analytic tool invades their privacy by logging the keystrokes, tracking location, recording calls, and is also able to intercept your entire text messages.

Lookout Labs has just released ‘Carrier IQ Detector’, a simple app for Android phones that allows users to easily check and determine if their handset contains Carrier IQ software or not. However, the app does not offers the ability to remove Carrier IQ software from your device because it’s deeply integrated with device firmware, and requires special device permissions to remove it that isn’t so easier for basic users. Its job is just to help non-technical users quickly check the presence of Carrier IQ on their handset. The app is available for free and requires NO ROOT.

How to check if Carrier IQ rootkit is installed on your Android phone – Install Carrier IQ Detector and launch it. Then just see the listed results. If Carrier IQ is detected and you wish to remove it, then try looking for guides available on several forums such as XDA-Developer, etc. It is advisable to NOT proceed unless you find this really intruding.

The ‘Slide to Unlock’ text label appears on the lock screen of every iOS device but there is no official way to change the usual unlock label. However, you can easily modify the commonly seen Slide to Unlock message on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch provided your device is jailbroken. A 10 year old talented developer Ron Melkhior has designed such app called ‘Slider Enhancer’. The app is free, available on the trusted BigBoss repository.

Slider Enhancer lets you change the iOS lock screen Slide to unlock text to some custom message which could appear cool and interesting. Furthermore, it allows you to show battery percentage, current time, current Wi-Fi network, or current IP address as the unlock label instead. To install it, just launch Cydia and search for Slider enhancer. Then simply install it and configure the app options from the Settings.

- Compatible with iOS 4 and iOS 5

Just a day back, Google introduced another cool change to its design by redesigning the substantially used Google bar. The new Google bar replaces the horizontal black bar at the top of the page, allowing you to navigate quickly between Google services, as well as offers the ability to check your Google+ notifications and quickly share stuff with desired people on Google Plus. The latest new Google bar is not launched publicly yet but has been rolled out randomly for some users at the moment.

Fortunately, a Google+ user ‘Maximilian Majewski’ has discovered a 100% working hack to enable the new Google bar right now. The hack can easily be applied on Google Chrome browser to edit a certain value and thus access the awesome new Google menu bar. Switching to the New Google bar is real easy, just follow the steps below:

1. Install the ‘Edit This Cookie’ extension to change cookies on Chrome.

2. Load Google.com, right-click on webpage and select ‘Edit cookies’.

3. Move to the "PREF" section and change its value to this: (exact code)

ID=03fd476a699d6487:U=88e8716486ff1e5d:FF=0:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1322688084:
LM=1322688085:S=McEsyvcXKMiVfGds

4. Click on ‘Submit cookie changes’ at the bottom.

5. Reload Google and you have the new Google bar.

You will now find links to the most accessed services in a new drop-down Google menu nested under the Google logo. You can access additional services by hovering over the “More” link at the bottom of the list. Just click on your choice and you’re over to it!

Hope you liked this trick. Don’t forget to share it with your friends.

Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest and most advanced version of Android OS introduces a refined, beautiful and unified UI for phones and tablets. Besides the smart new design, ICS offers a variety of innovative features for users and developers. Some of the newly added key features in ICS include – easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets, native screenshot capture support, improved browser, improved text input and spell-checking, redesigned Gallery with photo editor, and a lot more. See the Android 4.0 Platform Highlights.

Apparently, Galaxy Nexus is the first device pre-loaded with Android 4.0 to offer a pure Google experience. ICS is going to be officially available for several other high-end Android smartphones but that wouldn’t happen anytime soon. The Android 4.0 platform is available as a downloadable component on the Android SDK, allowing developers to create and test their applications on Android 4.0 with the Android emulator. Interested users can also test drive and experience the awesome interface and features of ICS, simply by installing the official Android 4.0 emulator on their computer.

Steps to Install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Emulator on Windows –

1. Download the Android SDK. (choose the .zip file for Windows)

2. Extract the contents of Zip file to a folder on your desktop.

3. Run ‘SDK Manager.exe’ from the folder. Tick mark the package ‘Android 4.0 (API 14)’ and click on ‘Install Packages’.

Wait until all the package components are downloaded. (Requires Internet and may take quite long depending on your connection speed.) A new window will appear, just choose Accept and click Install.

4. Upon installation of all the packages, a window will pop-up asking to restart ADB. Just click Yes.

5. Now run ‘AVD Manager.exe’ from the directory mentioned in step 2. Click on ‘New’ to create a new AVD. Give AVD a name, select target as Android 4.0, select a desired skin and Create AVD. (We chose HVGA, device RAM size can be specified too.)

Note: The emulator consumes high CPU resources, so set higher parameters only if you’ve a powerful system.

6. Select your AVD from the AVD Manager and click on Start. Then Launch it.

That’s it. Android 4.0 emulator will now boot up and present the ICS home screen.

The emulator can be controlled using both mouse and keyboard. It might act a bit sluggish as it’s a memory intensive program. ICS emulator has a set of virtual buttons and keyboard to operate it like a phone. Explore the various functions, settings and menus of ICS via this emulator to quickly taste most of the cool stuff!
