Internet users in India using Airtel Broadband and Reliance Broadband service must have recently noticed that both these ISP’s have blocked a majority of popular torrent sites in India since last night (May, 16th). Besides the torrent sites and illegal file sharing services, these leading internet service providers have also blocked access to sites such as xmarks.com, pastebin.com which is a sort of surprise as these services don’t serve any copyrighted or infringing content. According to Medianama, the reason behind this severe block is a ‘court ban’, following a John Doe order taken by Copyright Labs, Chennai, to prevent piracy of Tamil Films – Dhammu (Tamil) and 3 (Telugu).

Upon visiting any of these below listed websites on Airtel or Reliance Internet, you will see the following message “Access to this site has been blocked as per Court Orders”. On the contrary, BSNL and MTNL users are reporting that they’re able to access all the blocked sites easily. We’re not sure but this ban seems region specific as some users are able to access the banned sites in India on the above mentioned private ISP’s.

How to Access Blocked sites on Airtel/Reliance -

By implementing https (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) in place of the usual http, you can access most of the popular torrent sites like thepiratebay, isohunt, torrentz, kickasstorrrent and clean site like Xmarks. We’ve tried this trick on Airtel ISP and it’s working perfectly as on May 17th, 1:15 PM (IST). Links below:

Firefox 13 Beta with new ‘Reset’ feature offers the ability to restore Firefox to its default factory state without re-installing and while saving your essential information.

Certainly, this is a great addition to Firefox as users would now be able to fix most issues simply by resetting and without requiring any type of manual troubleshooting. Resetting doesn’t hard reset the browser, it works by creating a new profile folder while preserving your Bookmarks, Browsing history, Passwords, Cookies, and form auto-fill information. To make the restoration seamless and effective, Firefox does not saves your extensions/ add-ons, themes, open tabs/windows, tab groups, download history, and more.

To reset Firefox to its default configuration, click on the Firefox button located at top-left corner, open the Help sub-menu and select ‘Troubleshooting Information’. Then click on the ‘Reset Firefox’ button, a confirmation window will appear, tap to continue. Upon resetting, Firefox will list the information imported. Click Finish to open!

Google actively introduces new features to Google Plus and the recent addition by them is a useful and top requested one. Google Plus has finally added the ability to reorder your photos and move them between albums, directly from within Google+. This was even possible earlier using Picasa Web but that wasn’t the most convenient and simple way. The integration of an album organizer will let users easily organize their photo albums from the ‘Photos’ section in G+. This way you can rearrange the pictures in a proper desired sequence and can also move or copy photos to another album!

To get started, open an album and select ‘Organize album’ from the Options menu.

With the album organizer you can:

Sort photos by time: Click Order by date to sort all photos in the album by the photo date, from earliest to latest. Click it again to sort them from latest to earliest.

Reorder your photos: Select the photos you want to reorder and drag them to their new position in the album. You can also move selected photos to the start or end of the album by clicking Move to top or Move to bottom.

Move or copy photos to another album: Clicking Move lets you move or copy selected photos to one of your other albums or to a new album.

Delete a bunch of photos: Click Delete to delete the selected photos.

Afterwards, click Done organizing to save the changes.

This is indeed a nifty feature considering Photos play a significant role on Google+.

The camera shutter click sound integrated by default on Android is the most annoying and loud sound produced when taking a picture. Unfortunately, there is no way to mute the creepy camera sound on an unrooted Android device unless you switch it to silent mode, literally to take some photos. However, if you’ve a Rooted device or are using Cyanogen Mod (CM) custom ROM on your Android phone, then you can completely disable the camera click easily and take shots silently without disturbing your mates.

This is a pretty simple method that just requires rooting and not any complex tasks. It should work on most Android phones (rooted) and those running CM7. We’ve tried it on LG Optimus One with void #forever custom ROM installed and it worked perfectly.

Steps to Turn Off/Mute CyanogenMod Camera Sound on Android Phone -

1. Install ES File Explorer on your phone.

2. Run ES File Explorer, go to its Settings > Home Directory. Change the default value (/sdcard/) to (/).

3. Then navigate to bottom of settings and enable ‘Root Explorer’ option. Click Yes when the Experimental Feature box pops-up to grant it super user permissions. Also, tick mark the ‘Mount File System’ check box to mount the system as writable.

4. Next, open the Local directory in ES File Explorer. Navigate to:

"/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"

5. Tap on the camera_click.ogg file and rename it to camera_click.mp3.

That’s it. Open the camera and take a snap. Voila! No more shutter sound.

Tip: If you’re using CM 7.1.0, then you can now quickly disable camera shutter sound from settings: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Sound > Mute camera shutter.

Just a day back, Google introduced another cool change to its design by redesigning the substantially used Google bar. The new Google bar replaces the horizontal black bar at the top of the page, allowing you to navigate quickly between Google services, as well as offers the ability to check your Google+ notifications and quickly share stuff with desired people on Google Plus. The latest new Google bar is not launched publicly yet but has been rolled out randomly for some users at the moment.

Fortunately, a Google+ user ‘Maximilian Majewski’ has discovered a 100% working hack to enable the new Google bar right now. The hack can easily be applied on Google Chrome browser to edit a certain value and thus access the awesome new Google menu bar. Switching to the New Google bar is real easy, just follow the steps below:

1. Install the ‘Edit This Cookie’ extension to change cookies on Chrome.

2. Load Google.com, right-click on webpage and select ‘Edit cookies’.

3. Move to the "PREF" section and change its value to this: (exact code)

4. Click on ‘Submit cookie changes’ at the bottom.

You will now find links to the most accessed services in a new drop-down Google menu nested under the Google logo. You can access additional services by hovering over the “More” link at the bottom of the list. Just click on your choice and you’re over to it!

Few months back, Gmail introduced several new inbox styles with the purpose to let users manage their email in the best preferred way. The new inbox style tab has now been turned on for almost everyone, and is also available on the new Gmail look. This new style adds 5 different Inbox tabs at the top of your inbox. Indicated as – “Try on a new inbox: Classic, Important first, Unread first, Starred first, Priority Inbox”.

If you’ve already saw this new inbox style then you must have noticed that the ‘Inbox-style tabs toolbar’ disappears from your Gmail interface after a while. Well that’s not a magic but smarty Gmail that removes those tabs bar, after watching you settled on a particular favorite style for about a week. However, one can easily change the inbox style from the drop-down menu next to the Inbox label or from Settings (Inbox).

Fortunately, there is a way to easily restore the Inbox tabs toolbar in Gmail if it has vanished automatically or you closed it using the cross(x) button. To get it back, just hover your cursor over the Inbox tab in left sidebar and click on the drop down menu. Then point at Inbox Type and click the ‘Try the tabs again’ option. That’s it.

Note: Apparently, Gmail has one stupid limitation which prevents you from getting the inbox-style tab bar again. What happens is, if you close the tabs bar twice then Gmail assumes that you don’t need it. Hence, on closing the inbox tabs bar for second time, the Try the tabs again option wont appear anymore and you cant get it.
