Twitter just rolled out a whole lot of redesign updates by introducing a major design overhaul to its web interface and Twitter mobile app for iOS and Android. The entirely new interface makes it more faster and simpler to connect with your friends, followers, discover latest stories, suggestions on who to follow and see trending topics, etc. The Tweetdeck web version has also got a whole new design, along with native Tweetdeck application for Windows and Mac that doesn’t requires Adobe Air anymore. Besides this, Twitter share and follow buttons have also got a slight color gradient update.

The latest twitter update makes it easier for everyone to view and interact with tweets on the web in the same ways as you do from any twitter client. Embeddable tweets lets the users catch up the shared tweets directly without leaving your site. Visitors can follow the author with a single-click, reply, retweet, or favorite the Tweet instantly from the page itself. You can try it now in the newly launched Twitter. Steps to simply embed a tweet to a website:

1. Visit your or anyone else twitter profile. Then tap on the desired tweet or click Open to see the Details option.

2. Click on ‘Details’, so the permalink page of that particular tweet opens up.

3. Tap on ‘Embed this Tweet’ and a pop-up will appear. Choose the preferred alignment, copy the HTML code and paste it to the HTML section of your site or blog post.

It’s even more easier to embed Tweets on WordPress or Posterous Spaces.

WordPress bloggers can embed Tweets directly into their posts by simply copying the Tweet URL or using a familiar shortcode. Once published, WordPress instantly turns that URL or shortcode into an embedded Tweet.

Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) is the most recent version of web browser from Microsoft. Some of the top features included in IE9 are: Hardware accelerated graphics and text, clean user interface, Pinned sites, jump lists, new tab page, one box, HTML 5 support, the new JavaScript engine which makes it a lot faster and several other smart features.

Just like IE8, Internet Explorer 9 has built-in developer tools which help developers to quickly determine and resolve HTML, CSS, and JavaScript related problems by making changes to code from within the browser which can be previewed live. These dev tools are generally not used by the basic users but comes handy to a webmaster or web designer. To access them, just click on the gear icon and select “F12 developer tools” or simply hit F12.

Then just navigate to the ‘Tools’ tab and choose from the listed tools. One amazing and useful tool is Resize, using which one can easily check how their webpage appears in different screen resolutions. You can define a custom resolution too.

There is a Ruler to accurately measure any arbitrary objects on the screen in pixels. There are multiple colors rulers and a magnifying glass is also available for precision. A defined ruler can be moved, resized, and re-angled. Once drawn, the ruler shows the (x,y) coordinates of each end relative to position of the points and the ruler length is shown at the center of the ruler in pixels.

A basic Color Picker tool is also there that lets you pick the color sample from any object on a webpage and indicates its RGB and HEX values. To use it, just position the cursor over an object and left-click to select its color. Then click Copy and close, the HTML value of color will be copied to clipboard. Google Analytics is a great and efficient service to analyse website traffic stats and lets webmaster improve their site or blog performance by studying various results and thereby improving them. Analytics has now got the ability to show real time data – a set of new reports that shows what’s happening on your site as it happens.

This simply means you can now see Active aka Online visitors on your site. There are free Real-Time Web Analytics services like whos.amung.us and Trend counter to track live traffic but they show bloated stats. On comparing whos.amung.us live stats with Analytics Realtime, we found that whos.amung.us shows double live visitors than what’s shown by Analytics. Certainly, the figures shown by Google Analytics are much precise.

Realtime traffic reports are a good way to measure the immediate impact of social media. With Real-Time, you can see the immediate impact to your site traffic whenever you publish a new blog post and share it on social sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

How to Access Real-Time Stats in Google Analytics –

Firstly, switch to the New Version of Google Analytics. (Click the “New Version” link at top right corner on the Analytics webpage). Then tap the Dashboards tab and select the Overview option listed under Real-Time (beta). The Real-time reports will be moved to the Home tab in the updated interface next week.

You will have access to Real-Time reports if you are an Administrator on your Analytics account, or if you have access to a profile without profile filters. Real-Time does not support profile filters.

Realtime reports are being enabled for several accounts and everyone would be able to access them in coming weeks. However, if you can’t wait then you can get it now by applying for early access here: https://services.google.com/fb/forms/realtimeanalytics/

It got enabled for us just in a few minutes after applying. To see real-time data reports, visit: https://www.google.com/analytics/web/#realtime. The webpage shows Pageviews per minute/sec along with the Top Active Pages, top referrals, top keywords, etc.

Certainly, it’s not possible to stop scraper sites as the web is a huge place but if you’re a webmaster or blogger then you must be aware of sites who copy-paste aka scraps your hard written content. Spam blogs are usually a scrapper site which automatically pulls the entire post via sites RSS feed and publishes it on their site without the consent of original author. This can be generally referred as stealing of content.

Unfortunately, the recent Google Search algorithm (PANDA update) seems to give more importance to these splogs rather than the original site. I’ve seen many instances where our site was being outranked by the content scrappers in Google search, this makes me sad and is pretty bothersome. A small example of this can be seen below:

As you can see in above screenshot, the scrapper site is ranking at 1st position whereas the original site is at 3rd position. This definitely drops down our organic traffic and the sploggers who just steal our work enjoy the benefit of it.

To combat against this, Google seems to have finally started working to improve their search algorithm and they need data points for testing. Matt Cutts (head of the Google webspam team) just tweeted a link, using which site owners can report about blog scrapers to Google. This is a specialised webpage to Report scraper pages, it says:

Google is testing algorithmic changes for scraper sites (especially blog scrapers). We are asking for examples, and may use data you submit to test and improve our algorithms.

From now onwards, if you ever find any spam site or blog who is lifting your articles and is ranking above your site in Google, then do report about them and help Google in improving their algorithm. For me, Panda is a sort of nightmare that has turned into reality, resulting in 50% drop in both traffic and revenue since last few months.

To Report a Scraper site, just visit here. Input the search query, then URL of original site page and the scrapper site page. You can share some details too. Click Submit!

Google+ is a great platform to share interesting content and if you run a site or blog, then you can expect good traffic from Google Plus by sharing useful stuff. Google has finally added the much awaited feature that most webmasters have been waiting for. People or visitors can now directly share links to their Google+ profile from a website which has a +1 button added to it, just like Facebook and Twitter social buttons.

If a reader finds an article useful or impressive on a certain website, then he/she would now be able to share it directly to Google+ without the need to manually copy-paste the post link and share it.
