Aero peek is a nice feature integrated with Show Desktop button in Windows 7. Clicking on ‘Show desktop’ brings the desktop screen whereas it shows the icons, gadgets, and anything else on Window 7 desktop, with a simple move of your cursor over that little transparent rectangle, located in the lower right corner of Windows 7 taskbar.

Windows Vista and XP users can easily get and use both the ‘Aero peek’ and ‘Windows 7 Show desktop button’ on their system using a simple tool. ‘Show Desktop‘ is a small standalone application that creates a small rectangular button at the right side of task bar, next to the clock, which, when clicked, minimizes all open windows or temporarily makes them transparent so the user can "peek" at the desktop.

It provides option to change program settings like the button size, opacity, delay time, or the way how windows are minimized. A menu is displayed on right-clicking the button to easily shutdown, restart, standby, hibernate, logoff or lock the computer.

AeroTweak is a small and portable program which allows you to change about 50 different system parameters that affect user interface, performance and system security. If you are planning to install 64-bit Windows, then you must first assure if your computer system has a 64-bit capable CPU (processor) or not. The benefit of 64-bit version over 32-bit version of Windows is that, 64 bit handles large amounts of random access memory (4 GB of RAM or more) and is more responsive when running several programs at the same time or switching between them frequently.

How to Find if PC can run 64-bit version of Windows:

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, do the following:

1. Open Start menu > Control Panel (change ‘view by’ to Large icons), click “Performance Information and Tools”.

• In Windows 7, click View and print detailed performance and system information.

• In Windows Vista, click View and print details.

2. See ‘System’ in Performance Information and Tools. ‘System type’ shows type of OS currently running and 64-bit capable shows whether you system can run 64-bit version of Windows or not. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won’t see the 64-bit capable listing.)

In Windows XP:

Just download the small and free SIW (portable) and run it. Click ‘CPU Info’ under ‘Hardware’ in SIW and check the ‘Number of Bits’ supported by your CPU (processor).

If it shows 64 bits then CPU supports 64-bit Windows version.

If you want to find out if your computer is running a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows Operating system, then here is an easy way to determine it.

To check 32-bit or 64-bit version in Windows 7 & Vista:

1. Open Start menu, right-click on Computer, and then open its Properties.

2. Under System, view the System type entry.

To check 32-bit or 64-bit version in Windows XP:

1. Click Start button, right-click My Computer, and then open its Properties.

• If you don’t see "x64 Edition" listed, then you’re running the 32-bit version.

• If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you’re running the 64-bit version.

Hope this tip comes handy to find if your Windows supports a x86 or x64 application.

In Windows 7 & Vista, Administrator account is disabled by default due to security reasons. If you’re an advanced user and want to enable or activate the hidden administrator account in Windows 7 or Vista, then follow the easy way below:

Method 1 -

Search for ‘Computer Management’ in start menu search box or open it by typing the command compmgmt.msc in the search or Run box.

In Computer Management window, navigate to Local Users and Groups > Users. Double click on Administrator account to open its Properties. Uncheck the option named ‘Account is disabled’ click Apply and Ok.

Method 2 -

Search for ‘Local Security Policy’ in start menu search box or open it by typing the command secpol.msc in the search or Run box.

In Local Security Policy window, navigate to Local Policies > Security Options. Double click on the entry named ‘Accounts: Administrator account status’ to open its Properties. Select the Enabled option, click Apply and Ok.

>> After applying any of the above method, just Logoff and Windows will show the Administrator account and your User account. Click the desired one to Login.

Note – It is recommended to set a password if you wish to activate the Admin account.
