At an event in Dubai, the Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad launched its latest smartphone “Cool Play 6” which the company has been teasing for a while. Coolpad, well known for its range of affordably priced phones was the first to bring fingerprint sensor and 3GB RAM to a budget phone with the launch of Coolpad Note 3 back in 2015. The company continues that certain trend with the launch of Cool Play 6 that features impressive specifications in the sub-15k price segment. The main highlight of the phone is the inclusion of 6GB RAM and dual rear cameras which are an unusual offering in its price range.
The Coolpad Cool Play 6 features an unibody metal design and sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display at 403 ppi. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with Coolpad’s custom Journey UI and the company promises an update to Android 8.0 by December 2017. Under the hood, it’s powered by a 1.95GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor with Adreno 510 GPU. The phone packs 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage but there is no option for storage expansion. A fingerprint sensor is located at the back and the device features a 4000mAh battery. Cool Play 6 measures 8.5mm in thickness and weigh 177 grams.
The phone features two 13MP cameras at the back with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone dual LED flash, PDAF and support for 4K video recording. The front camera is an 8MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity options include Dual SIM (nano SIM support), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and USB Type-C port for charging.
Priced at Rs. 14,999, the Cool Play 6 will be available for sale exclusively on Amazon.in starting 4th September. Comes in Black and Gold colours.
