Samsung has started rolling out a new OTA update for the Galaxy S9+ smartphone in India. The OTA update sized 425MB finally brings Dual VoLTE support in addition to improved performance for VoLTE and VoWiFi. With Dual VoLTE functionality, Galaxy S9 Plus users can now use 4G and VoLTE on both SIMs. The update also introduces native call recording support that lets users automatically record calls and save them either to internal storage or microSD card. Apart from these two noteworthy features, the update comes with the May Android security patch.

Update changelog:

  • Improved performance. – VoLTE, VoWIFI
  • Dual VoLTE/VoWIFI service is available for both of the SIM cards in the dual SIM slots. ( ? The service is provided only to dual SIM devices and can still be limited depending on the service operator for each SIM card. )
  • The security of your device has been improved.

As pointed out by Rakesh, the S9+ now supports Vodafone VoLTE while Airtel and Jio VoLTE worked before. The latest OTA for Samsung Galaxy S9+ updates the device build number in India to G965FXXU1BRE3. The only disappointment is that it’s still based on Android 8.0 Oreo rather than Android 8.1 Oreo. We hope Samsung fulfills that wish too with the future update.
