Earlier today, we witnessed the launch of Micromax’s latest smartphone “Canvas Infinity” that features a Full Vision display, something which is currently limited to premium flagships and was recently seen in LG Q6, LG’s mid-range offering. The USP of the Micromax Canvas Infinity is the 18:9 Infinity display surrounded by minimal bezels, similar to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. Another highlight is the 16MP front camera with real-time bokeh and soft selfie flash. Sporting an 83% screen-to-body ratio, the phone offers a larger and wider screen in a compact form-factor. Let’s take a look at the rest of the package.
The Canvas Infinity features a metallic design and sports a 5.7-inch HD IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio at a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The phone is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 Octa-core processor and runs on Android 7.1.2 out of the box. Under the hood, it packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The back cover is removable, under which there is a 2900mAh removable battery. The box includes a pair of earphones, screen guard and a protective case besides the usual contents.
Speaking of the optics, the primary camera is a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. It features Portrait mode, Time-lapse and Super Pixel that allows one to capture high-resolution pictures. The 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera features soft flash, real-time bokeh effect, auto scene detection, smile shot, and beauty mode. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, and USB OTG. The sensors onboard include Gravity, Proximity, Light, Accelerometer, and Magnetic sensor. A fingerprint sensor is placed at the back.
Software features include gesture-based shortcuts letting users easily initiate certain tasks and the ability to take long screenshots of up to 10 pages. The Gallery app further includes facial recognition technology that allows the user to search for photos in an intuitive way. Micromax has also confirmed that the device will receive Android 8.0 Oreo update soon.
Priced at Rs. 9,999, the Micromax Canvas Infinity will be available exclusively on Amazon.in from 1st September, registrations for which has already begun. The brand also offers 24 hours service promise for the Canvas Infinity and intends to sell it via offline channels as well at a later date.
