Smartron launches SRT phone with 5.5″ FHD display, Snapdragon 652 and Android Nougat starting at Rs. 12,999

After almost a year, Smartron has made a comeback with the launch of “srtphone” which is inspired by the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The SRTPhone looks a promising smartphone, designed and engineered in India. The device is launched in the mid-range category at a starting price of Rs. 12,999 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart. What’s interesting is that Smartron promises fastest Android updates, including major updates like Android O and security patches. The handset also offers unlimited t.cloud storage.

Smartron’s SRTphone has a plastic build and sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display at 401ppi with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor with Adreno 510 GPU. Under the hood, it packs 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot though. The phone runs on the near latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat with February security patch. The back cover is removable but the 3000mAh battery is sealed that supports fast charging via QuickCharge 2.0. An 18W (5V/2A and 9V/2A) fast charger comes bundled and Type-C port is used for charging.

In terms of optics, there is a 13MP rear shooter with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, PDAF and LED flash. The front camera is a 5MP shooter with a wide-angle lens. The Fingerprint sensor is at the back with 0.09s of response time. We like the fact that the phone reserves minimum space for the OS and offers maximum usable space, hence one gets 58GB free space on the 64GB variant. The capacitive buttons are backlit and users can optionally switch to on-screen navigation keys. With an SAR rating of 0.6W/kg SAR, the srt.phone provides better radiation protection than other devices in the competition.

In terms of connectivity, it supports 4G VoLTE, Dual SIMs (both microSIM), dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth: v4.1, AGPS, GLONASS, FM Radio, USB OTG and NFC too. The device is rich in sensors with Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light and Digital Compass. The phone is 8.9mm thick and weighs 155g. Comes in Titanium Grey colour.

The SRTphone is priced in India at Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs. 13,999 for the 64GB variant. Sachin Tendulkar Signature back covers are available for free as a part of limited time offer and the device is now up for sale at Flipkart.
