At an event in Delhi today, Sony finally launched its flagship smartphone in India ‘The XPERIA Z3+” at a price of Rs. 55,990. The Z3+ is apparently the global variant of Z4 that was released earlier. In comparison to its predecessor Z3, the Z3 Plus features a slimmer and lighter profile, with capless USB, improved display, the powerful Snapdragon 810 Octa-core 64-bit processor, 32GB of storage, and a front camera got better. The smartphone is just 6.9mm slim, weighs 144g, and packs a 5.2″ Full HD screen with adaptive display technology that improves visibility in direct sunlight conditions. A metal frame with a shiny finish runs around the Z3+ that looks premium and the rounded corners make it comfortable to hold.
The device reportedly works accurately even with a wet screen and comes with dual front-facing stereo speakers for a rich multimedia experience. Comes in 4 colors – Aqua Green, Black, Copper, and White. A quick charger comes bundled with the purchase of Xperia Z3+ along with a screen protector. The phone supports nano-SIM and expansion via microSD card, both of which share a common tray.

Ok, while from one perspective it sounds like a studded spec sheet but another perspective will have you going – what is Sony thinking here?! With the likes of the OnePlus 2 arriving in the coming weeks at around 30K INR mark, here we have something that is upwards of 50K INR! At that price range, people can start looking at the LG G4, Samsung Note 4 or the Samsung S6, or even the iPhone 6.
Of course, the Sony Z3+ comes with some good camera hardware and water + dustproof capabilities – but will these push people to go for this? We hardly think so. Only time will tell if Sony will ever even open their eyes to the kind of pricing that other companies are going with for their phones or just play a deaf ear and a blind eye in moving ahead with their pricing that will not do good to their sales numbers. At the moment, if you are remotely interested to have a look at the device or even buy it, hop on to one of the local stores because it is already up for sale!
