At the launch event of X5Max, Vivo also showcased four other smartphones of which the “Xshot” grabbed the utmost attention. The Xshot is a 4G enabled smartphone featuring a beautiful design, amazing camera, slim form-factor, great hardware and packs Vivo’s extreme Hi-Fi sound quality experience. Xshot is a camera-centric smartphone that’s why it’s termed Xshot. It sports an outstanding rear and front camera, that is perfect for photography lovers who wish to own a smartphone with professional camera for capturing high quality photos, videos and taking great selfies. The Xshot appears pretty slim with just 7.99mm in thickness and is encased in a shiny aluminium frame that feels sturdy and looks attractive. We got to play with the Xshot, don’t forget to view the hand-on photos and video after the jump.
Vivo Xshot flagship variant comes with support for 4G LTE (both FDD LTE and TDD LTE) and is powered by a 2.26GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC (8974AA). The Xshot features a 5.2” Full HD display, runs on Funtouch OS v1.2 based on Android 4.3, comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It includes a single-tray that comprises space for a micro SIM and a microSD card up to 128GB. There is a secondary microphone for noise cancellation but sadly the capacitive buttons have no backlight. Read complete specifications down below.
Camera Features – Xshot features a 13MP rear camera with Dual-tone LED flash and autofocus. The main camera carries Sony IMX214 sensor (a stacked CMOS sensor), an impressive F1.8 aperture that is combined with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to let users capture brighter and high quality photos with low noise even in low-light conditions. There is a dedicated camera key on the right side that takes five continuous shots on double-clicking it. Several interesting camera modes include: Face beauty, Pose mode, Children mode, HDR, Bokeh mode (that highlights the subject and blurs the background), MSport mode, and more. The only downside here is that the main camera sticks out at the top back.
Xshot is capable of recording videos in Ultra HD (4K) resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, followed by 1080p, 720p and 480p resolution. There are options for AF lock and AE lock that helps in capturing more professional and high-definition videos. The camera also offers the ability to capture videos in slow motion and fast motion. We tried shooting a video with Xshot in 1080p mode and it turned out great. Watch the sample video captured with Xshot 4G below: (The video is rendered in 720p and was actually shot in portrait mode, apologies for that).
Xshot Hands-on Overview, Camera Features, and UI (Smart Wake) Video –
P.S. This video has been captured with Xshot in Full HD, watch in 720p for best view.
Xshot is a “Prefect Selfie Camera” as well. It comes with a 8MP wide angle front-facing camera that takes clear and detailed selfies with certainly reduced noise (even without the front flash). The best thing is that the Xshot has a LED flash in front too that flashes soft light to take bright selfies in complete darkness.
