Kies is a software by Samsung which allows you to manage and upgrade firmware of Android devices like Galaxy S. It seems there is some bug with Kies, as many users are facing issues like error messages when trying to uninstall/remove Kies from Windows.

Thankfully, Samsung has looked upon and released an official uninstall program for Kies. This Kies uninstaller is a small .exe file which lets you easily remove KIES from your PC. After uninstalling Kies, download the latest version of Kies and install it.

i have to ask this: is kies just the worst piece of software ever, in the history of software coding, to have been written. I have NEVER, REGARDLESS OF ADVICE FROM FORUM AFTER FORUM, been able to run or load Kies. the link above has given me yet another version of kies THAT DOESNT WORK. I got YET ANOTHER ERROR MESSAGE: kies installer failed to initialize. I have used a computer for many many years, with many different phones, printers, faxes, devices, gps devices and software. kies is the ONLY piece of software in the i have NEVER been able to use. was it written by monkeys? is it in fact a monumental joke piece of software. it is unblievable that i have never been able to find a single version which will load and perform any function.

Agreed Samsung Kies is possibly the worst software written – and it makes you wonder if it was ever tested before release.

Guys, try Revo Uninstaller. I prefer the portable version because you dont need to install it, it just runs. Be warned though, don’t mess around too much!

Yes, Kies is trash. Total trash. I don’t understand how a company as big as Samsung can create such a monstrosity. I can’t remove this damn thing from my computer…there’s some mega annoying notification that keeps coming up telling me that it has downloaded firmware. Worthless.

Kies is a major piece of garbage: Huge, slow and does very little. Worst of all it can’t be uninstalled like any other windows software. Can’t believe this junk has passed Samsung quality control.

Using a MPB running Mavericks (Mac OS 10.9) I noted that there are still leftovers from an installation for an individual user (not system wide) made under an earlier OS version. So I uninstall manually:

Opened folder /Applications and moved Kies.app to trash

    and then I `rm -rf’
    $HOME/Library/Caches/com.samsung.Kies
    $HOME/Library/Frameworks/SamsungKiesFoundation.framework
    $HOME/Library/Frameworks/SamsungKiesSerialPort.framework

    `rm’
    $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.samsung.Kies.plist

Also, in KIES preferences there’s a location give for content data. Default is
    $home/Samsung/Kies
but it may have another location pointing to a folder in the user directory.

    This worked for me perfectly

Samsung … Kies … worst program I have ever tried.
    – it works sometimes and then it doesn\’t
    – used RevoUnistaller to uninstall (revo uses the samsung unistaller but there is a heap of leftovers in my registry and all the Kies program files remain.
    – I used Revo about 12 months ago … that equates to about 300+ reboots since then and Kies leftovers are still in the registry and the $$##%^ program files are still there.

Even their TVs (we have bought 2 in 3 years) are full of firmware bugs.
    – next time it will be German gear. German products/software is well thought out and always works.

UninstallKies.exe extracted from UninstallKies.zip is a total waste of time
    – my PC still has >100 Kies entries in the registry
    – Samsung have been unreliable for over 4 years now.
    – absolutely no instruction on how to use it

Uninstall.exe (extracted from Uninstall.zip) does nothing.
    – a total waste of time, over 100 registry items remain and no installations are removed
