It actually depends on your Dell notebook model. On my Dell Studio 15, I need to use Fn + F6 keys to enable backlit.

ALT + function + F6 worked for me, function and F6 alone wouldn\’t work for some reason until i added the ALT, however since doing it this way it will now turn off and on with just Fn+F6

My wife\’s Dell Inspiron 14 7000 series back lit keyboard is not readable in the daytime, The settings are on maximum, but the white transparent letters make it impossible to read, you have to move your head a foot to the left or right and hope the sun(office lights) briefly give you a bit of relief if you wave your hand over each key stroke. It\’s a great looking Dell, but she hates it more than any other laptop she\’s had.

  22. Benson says:

Thanks, it worked in Dell Latitude E5550 by pressing \”Fn\” and \”F10\”
