Retain High Speed Bandwidth on Airtel Broadband after crossing FUP limit with Smartbytes

A while back Bharti Airtel introduced Smartbytes, a service allowing their broadband users to enjoy high-speed Internet without compromising on speed after running out of the allocated high-speed data limit.

Smartbytes comes in handy when you exceed your high speed quota as defined by Fair Usage Policy but can still browse at a creepy speed of 256Kbps. Airtel Smartbytes for broadband customers lets you simply track your internet usage, check the billing cycle, and buy additional data usage packs as and when needed.

Airtel Smartbytes

‘Smartbytes’ offers the ability to add high speed data transfer limit and continue browsing at higher speeds. Customers can opt for desired Smartbytes pack anytime after reaching 80% of their high speed bandwidth limit. The additional data usage bought is provided for the remaining period of your monthly billing cycle. Smartbytes unique data usage packs range from 1 GB to 50 GB starting at Rs. 99.

Additional Data Usage Packs at Airtel Smartbytes include:

  • 1 GB for Rs. 99
  • 2 GB for Rs. 159
  • 5 GB for Rs. 299
  • 10 GB for Rs. 449
  • 20 GB for Rs. 799
  • 50 GB for Rs. 1499

Upon opting for Smartbytes deals, you’ll be able to browse at a higher speed as per your current plan for the provided high-speed data transfer quota. To add an additional data usage pack to your broadband plan, just visit www.airtel.in/smartbytes from your Airtel broadband connection to which you want to add it. Then select a desired data usage pack to purchase additional GBs for usage in the current bill cycle only.

Smartbytes is indeed a nice initiative from Airtel for users who can’t adapt to low bandwidth and thus are looking for some alternative. However, Airtel has made it more than easier to opt for Smartbytes as one doesn’t need any special account logins to activate it. This is quite risky as anyone having access to your Internet network can go to the smartbytes webpage and subscribe to any data plan without your knowledge.

Thanks for the update as I recently got my Airtel Broadband connection on hold due to lack of plans. Now I have the freedom to extend the limit.
