iOS 18 and iOS 26 come with a host of customization options and widgets for the lock screen. Additionally, they include several small but useful features that you might not notice right away. One such feature (first introduced in iOS 16) is the ability to crop photos to fit as wallpaper on your iPhone. Yes, you can resize a picture to the exact wallpaper dimensions directly on your device.
How does a picture fit wallpaper help?
Most of us download custom wallpapers that aren’t always optimized for our device’s screen. We also like to create our own wallpaper from photos to fit the iPhone display.
To ensure that the wallpaper or background fits perfectly, it’s best to crop it first. Cropping an image for iPhone wallpaper prevents the need to zoom in, zoom out, or manually reposition it while applying. Plus, you don’t have to worry about finding the right size or resolution for your iPhone.
Crop wallpaper option in iOS 18 and iOS 26
Is your iPhone wallpaper zoomed in too much or appears stretched? Wondering what size your wallpaper should be, or how to scale an image to fit the screen? With iOS 18 and later, you no longer need to worry about such issues.
Starting in iOS 16, you can resize iPhone wallpaper without relying on online tools or third-party apps. You also don’t need workarounds like taking a screenshot, which usually lowers image quality.
This crop wallpaper option is available in the built-in Photos app. The process is the same as cropping or changing the aspect ratio of any photo on your iPhone or iPad. That said, you cannot make a square photo fit as your iPhone wallpaper.
Now let’s see how to make a picture fit as wallpaper on iPhone 17, iPhone 16, iPhone 15, iPhone Air, and other iPhones running iOS 18 or iOS 26.

That’s so much better than Android, where you can just set it to any size you want when you select it as wallpaper. Editing and cropping and adding all those steps just shows the superiority of iOS.
I hate this piece of garbage.
