Fix: Not receiving Aadhaar Card OTP on my mobile number

Are you not getting Aadhaar OTP while filing ITR or for PF withdrawal?

not getting OTP for aadhar card

If you’re a citizen of India then by now you must be aware of the importance of an Aadhaar Card. This card serves as a valid proof of identity and proof of address. An aadhaar card is also necessary for eKYC purposes, thereby letting you verify your identity electronically. This way you can complete the KYC process seamlessly and quickly while eliminating the need for any paperwork. One can utilize UIDAI’s eKYC service to instantly activate services such as a new mobile connection, bank account or trading account.

In order to authorize UIDAI to disclose your KYC information to such service providers, you can either use One Time Password (OTP) or biometric authentication. In case you’re registering for a service online, then using an OTP remains the only option. By sharing the OTP sent by UIDAI, the user allows the respective service provider to electronically access their details such as name, date of birth, address, gender, mobile number, and photograph from UIDAI for verification.

Not receiving an OTP for Aadhaar Card services?

However, the problem arises when you’re unable to receive an OTP for the Aadhaar card on your registered mobile number. In this case, you won’t be able to complete the e-KYC process online unless you enter the OTP for verification.

I encountered a similar situation while trying to download a copy of e-Aadhaar and adding my Aadhaar card to the mAadhaar app. To my surprise, I was not getting an Aadhaar OTP from UIDAI despite having the correct mobile number registered in their database. I made sure that my phone number was active and there wasn’t any signal issue. I also verified my mobile number (declared during enrolment) successfully through the UIDAI website but that didn’t work either.

In this post, I’ll tell you what can you do if you’re not receiving aadhaar card OTP on your registered mobile number. If you’re not getting the OTP even after multiple tries, then follow the below methods:

How to verify your mobile number in Aadhaar Card online

This will ensure that the correct mobile number is updated in your Aadhaar card on which you’re expecting the OTP to arrive. To do so, visit uidai.gov.in and navigate to My Aadhaar > Aadhaar Services > Verify Email/Mobile Number. Enter your Aadhaar number, registered mobile number, and security code. Then select ‘Get OTP’ and enter the OTP received to verify your phone number.

NOTE: If you’re not receiving the OTPs from UIDAI even after verifying your mobile number then make sure to follow the below method.

Contact UIDAI Customer Care (Toll-Free: 1947)

Initially, you might feel that doing this won’t help but don’t underestimate UIDAI’s customer care. I myself have tried this out and can assure you that it works. All you need to do is call UIDAI regional office in Bengaluru on 1947 (toll-free number). Upon contacting them, choose your preferred language in step 1. In step 2, wait until the IVR prompts you to press “9” to talk to an available representative.

Press 9 to talk to their customer care representative and tell them you’re not getting Aadhar OTP at all. You can also mention that you’ve already verified your mobile number. The representative will now ask for your Aadhaar enrolment number. It’s highly likely that you won’t have the enrolment slip, so request them to verify your identity differently. They will now ask for your details such as full name, date of birth, address, and father’s name. Upon sharing all this info, they will give you a complaint number which you must note down. Your concern will be forwarded to the technical team and the issue should be fixed in a few days.

In my case, the issue was fixed within 2 days as I started getting OTP for my Aadhaar. Do note that you won’t be informed that the problem has been rectified.

TIP: You can download the mAadhaar app and try adding your Aadhaar card to it after around two days to check if the issue has been sorted or not. If the issue exists, then contact UIDAI again and share your complaint number to know the status.

    I\’ve a different problem with my Aadhaar! Recently updated my mobile number by visiting the enrolment centre and the same has been updated in UIDAI portal after 7 days from the request date. Also i checked it through \”verify mobile/e-mail option\” by entering the required details.

    After entering the aadhaar number and mobile number, i just clicked the option \”send OTP\”. Then it displays \” your mobile number is already verified\”.

    But if i want to download e-aadhaar, requested OTP is still reaching to the old/previous mobile number. i just raised a complaint regarding this issue to UIDAI customer care (1947) couple of times. They replied as \” your details are matching with our database\”.

    Then how the OTP goes to old/previous mobile number ???

    Please suggest any solution to fix this issue

      I am also facing the same problem. Every time I am getting a message “We are unable to reach authentication service to serve you OTP. Please try again.” I have raised the complain on email “[email protected]” and also 1947. But fault has not been rectified. In fact 1947 is useless. They don’t know anything. Government should put some knowledgeable person at 1947.

    To receive OTP on updated mobile number. Follow the following steps:

    * Download mAadhaar Applications on your Device
    * Add your Aadhaar Card in the application
    * Click “Aadhaar Sync”
    * Generate Virtual ID.
    * Click “Aadhaar Sync”

    This worked for me, now I am receiving OTP on my updated mobile number.

    Not receiving Aadhaar Card OTP on my mobile number ???????

    Hi All,

    Myself also faced this issue but again I had raised request for mobile number change now I am getting OTP.
    HOW?

    For example :
    1. Raised Request number-1 = 4455667733 (mobile number – to get OTP)
    2. Raised Request number-2 = 9988774455 (mobile number- to get OTP)
    Both are my mobile numbers

    After raised request number-1 then also I didnt get OTP on this number 4455667733 but after few days I had raised another request number-2 then started getting OTP on 4455667733.

    Note: Actually as per request number-2 I should get OTP on 9988774455 but I didnt get OTP on 9988774455. What to do our AADHAR PORTAL is not working/functioning properly

    This may not be actual solution but if you have 2 SIM then try this method.

    Regards
    Rajasekar R

    pathetic service my adhaar techinal team in that case. reading the comments here making me lose all hope.
    I recently added a mobile number to my adhaar card. initially it had no number. I got it made over 5 years ago.

    Now I get message that OTP is sent to registered number but I’m using the registered number myself and there is no OTP there!
    It is so annoying.

    I have raised a complaint today. Lets see if they are able to resolve

    I’m feeling disappointed

    Generate VID. This solved my issue.
    1947 call center people really don’t know how to solve this type of issue.
    I found this solution after investigating so many hours.
    https://uidai.gov.in/my-aadhaar/avail-aadhaar-services/aadhaar-services-on-sms.html
    1. Generate VID using recently updated Aadhar registered mobile number using SMS
    2. Once VID is generated your new mobile number will be updated and you will start getting OTP.
